Well I don't know if there's such a thing under XP, but try to find the events monitor in the control panels. That should inform you about reasons of some crashes. It always logs any critical error leading to an autoreboot.

something wrong with the activeXcom or something registry.I have to fix it every time I quit BC(after the crash/reboot).Ida know.I uninstall/installed and it ran fine.I'm scared to start it up again

Tip: you can emulate another windows system withing your XP OS. Using virtual PC for windows. It works exactly like VPC for macintosh. Since you're running a virtual system, if it crashes, it won't crash your whole computer. And to answer your possibly next questions: yes, yes, GK Store and PM.
(yes I have it, yes I do use it a lot in order not to f** up my win2000 original registry, you can find it at GK store, and PM for further question :))

Thats a very good idea.Quite logical.How much tech ability is needed to make today's games run on an emulator?...lots or little?

Actually the emulator emulates a basic S3 Trio video card. It's quite useful for old non 3D accelerated games, i.e. any RPG, or strategy games. Of course it's useless for shoots or doom like, but since I hate those games, and I only play strategy/rpg/racing games, it's fine. Now, concerning the emulation speed, it runs smoothly on an 1.2Ghz TB. Some appreciated features too: automatic detection of your internet connection so you can connect to the net without having to configure anything! Also a powerful drag and drop and folder sharing between the emulator and the original windows OS... I would invite you to have a look a the Connectix homesite to have further information.

First I need to get this darn game running properly.This crash to auto reboot is driving me batty.
Why is it tech support guys always say "update your drivers and set your resolution to.."?...geez..duh!..you give them a dxdiag,an error report and they get some office boy to look at it...grrrr

Now this afternoon it worked fine.I was able to progress thru 5 "episodes" ok.Its either crash from the start or its fine.All or nothing.:crazyeye:

well at least I can do some bridge commanding if I restart the game enough times....its like trying to get the good lane on a freeway.:nuke:..just wonder how hard on my machine all those auto reboots are :(

Rebooting all the time is not harmful for your system. Maybe only the boot track will be used intensively but well, nowadays HD can stand such a challenge for years and years ;) So fear not.

I'm hearing alot of mixed reviews about 4.Just like civ3.Seems previous version players have their pet peeves while newbies are too busy playing to comment.My big problem is I havn't touched the series since #1 :eek:...I'm way behind ;(
