Sure, except that every thread would start with :new:, and maybe later with :updated:. Three years later, when the thread is languishing 20 pages down, you will open it up to see :new: blazing across it.

That's why I support the use of those images on the news page, but not in the forums.

It is vitally important that the smilie is not laughing. The smilie represents a sort of nasty grin of anticipation, while the is a laughter due to percieved victory.

• - eh, its kinda like a different version of :worship:

My thoughts exactly. Although I get the point of Padma is saying, I think the new should be used in maybe sigs, like the Archer Reskin link in mine. Updated could simply be the new wey to say "EDIT:" when you edit a post.
