Smoking Ban in Pubs/Clubs in England

Whats most interesting about this ban is that it does not cover the House of Parliament. :D Apparently as the Houses of Parliament are classed as crown property, the smoking ban does not cover it.

So if you want to sit inside with a pint and a cigarette, become an MP!!

Rofl. I am suprised you had the stones to even post again after that drubbing.

Do you have any links to statistics on this from Africa? The ratio of the gay communities infection rates there? Proof at all? Any studies like I have linked to here that shows the number of cases between Gay men and heterosexuals? Anything....besides snide comments?

In a separate question, why is it that the gay male community does exceed the heterosexual community in the United States in HIV/AIDs cases when it only compromises 3%-5% of the population?

:scan: Thread title.

:scan: MobBoss post.

Ah yes, I find that quite amusing!

In Alberta, we have a ban as well. And then our provincial cabinet was accused of violating the ban ....

A week later, the province declared $ 1 billion will go into cancer research - our politicians make us stop smoking (but decide to retain the right) and then spend our money on a cure for the cancer they insist on giving themselves.

Just refuting what your friend Sidhe put out there. Nothing more, nothing less. Or should I go find examples of where you have done the very same thing?

Chicago just instituted a smoking ban in all public places including bars/clubs and anywhere within 15 feet of an entrance however you can smoke at the bar, I guess. As well, the price has increased for a pack of ciggie butts by $1 and now stand at $7.50/pack.

It hasn't seemed to impact business except for the steakhouses which cater to the cigar crowd. I was in L.A. when they banned it and NYC when they banned it and what I find interesting is when I went outside to puff, people talk more outside smoking than they do inside where they just stand around looking at each other. :hmm:

My bigger issue is on the homefront with a Cali girl fiancee'.
Smoking will not be an option reasonably soon.

http://www.4woman.gov/hiv/world.cfm

Go here then look at the figures in the various countries, shut up please you fail to admit you're wrong even when you patently are?

Stop talking rubbish please.

You seemed to indicate that gay people are the largest spreader and contractor of the disease you were wrong just admit it.

Sorry, not patently wrong at all. Even in your link, it does state several areas around the world where the primary vector of the disease is male to male sexual intercourse. It varies from nation to nation and region to region. The data I gave you for the USA is accurate and in this nation gay people are indeed the "largest spreader" as you put it.

It would appear you have a problem coming to gripes with that realization.

Tell you what. Lets just narrow down the argument to the USA. Can you explain why the gay community accounted for 47% of HIV/AIDs cases in 2004 when the demograph is only 3-5% of the overall population?

Any chance you two can take the AIDS debate over to the "Being gay is healthy" thread?

I humbly apologize for the threadjacking.:(

Thats strange, a large part of the argument here was to prevent bar workers from having to breathe in their customers smoke, so obviosuly smoking at the bar is seen as the ultimate sin.
