But there is something below the beam on the right sight (if we speak of the same thing at all) that doesn‘t seem to fit.
I wouldn’t rule out a Phoenician lighthouse. It would fit Dido to appear on her screen in the background and while we don‘t know phonician lighthouse remains (afaik), other classical remains are indeed rectangular stories put on top of each other.

I was also about to comment how I couldn't see any hint of this being a ship when suddenly I totally saw it
I can't see this being part of the Mosque of Djenne or University of Sankore, but it does remind me of the city art of Sister Miriam Believers' faction from SMAC, which was kind of mud-desert style, which brings me back to Mali. And also, there were those chocolate coins in the last gameplay video...
I'll join those who are bored of discussing about small details. Specially this one were we have a "generic" rectangular roof. It could be anyone of the remaining (Eleanor discarded due to civ+leader, is the less fitting). But Swedish renaissance turret dome? checked. Some kind of small ottoman minaret? checked. A ¿maybe painted as probably it was in origin? structure in Timbuktu? checked?. The top of a cloth tent that could be used either by Turkey, Phoenicia or Mali? checked…
I'm going to check these gold coins whenever they are... I guess they would be more revealing tan the picture
Last tought addition: if the chocolates were gold Nuggets that would be clearly Mali... but being coins, you could also not rule out trading empires like Phoenicia or Ottomans (gold Bessants (from Bizantium) and Dinars were kind of the dollar of the middle ages…) So, another quite open clue

If you follow your line to the right side of the picture, the cloud(?) pattern there is continuous, with no signs of any break caused by reflection. I only see a lot of sky, with some very light clouds, no horizon.
I don't know where you found that picture but it looks a HECK of a lot like the sneak peek image. Though, it's not lit in the sneak peek if that's what it is, but I wouldn't call that overwhelming evidence that it's not a lighthouse.
The part that is catching my attention on the sneak peek is the little gap in the structure where you can see the sky/sea behind it. On the right of the structure, at the middle section. It looks like there's a thin vertical beam holding the structure up. What could that be?
Mali is the civilization I’m least anticipating for the expansion, so after two whole weeks of the hype train having been stuck in the station, this isn’t going to get me aboard again quite yet.
