I was wondering how many a civ unit equals, one in real life.

E.g

1 civ unit= 10 real ones
or
1 civ unit= 100 real ones
or
1 civ unit= 500 real ones

.... i don't know...so i'm asking you what does one civ unit equal to in real life.

If you're playing a 32x32 map, a single unit is going to represent a LOT. On the other hand, on a 256x256 map, each single unit will represent a much smaller number of 'real life' units.

This is assuming on both map sizes, you're assuming each is 'earth' and just on larger or smaller scales. If you want that to represent planet size, well, then it's a totally different story.

WOW your all wrong! It depends on what unit land military units make up like Division out of an army, while all naval units make up one or two of that unit and Air Units make up like a squadron

Heh. There are probably lots of numbers claiming to be the official number, but I think you would be hard pressed to find one on a official website. I like to think of my units as a full division of 50 or so men.

Ok my answer i read in like five places on this site and it also makes the most sense

I think it very much depends on the unit. For example, it only costs an extra 20% (?) for modern armor over tanks, but it would take a lot more production to make a M1 abrams than a sherman, so I imagine a unit of MA to be 1, and a unit of tanks to be, say, 3.

A full division of 50 men ? 0_o

You might be right when you say a division, but I was always partial to naming them regiments of men -- making "armies" the real-world equivalent of a division.

Although, making each unit the equivalent of a division might work as well...

Okay, chumps- there's an easy and convenient formula that was developed to describe the translation of civ3 to reality:

R = A^3 / (426.83 + Eq) + (F x Wr + 6)(Eq) / 1/2T - D

where...
R is the Realism Conversion
A is the Total # of map squares
Eq is the "Equalizance" factor
F is the number of tech advances made by 1/2 of all civs in the current game
Wr is the number of sea tiles in the current game
T is the number of the current turn
D is the number of Brad Pitt's inseam measurement

Easy, right... ? Oh, and btw- the rest of you were all wrong (even you 42-boosters).  groucho
