So who has played Mao?

It's a card game. That's about all I can say, since the whole point of Mao is that you don't tell anyone the rules, and you make them up.

I played Mao once. I can't tell you whether it would break a rule to tell you how the game went, though.

president owns, but ive been in a holdem phase lately

Sounds like "Cups" from the Friends episode where Chandler moves out of Joey's apartment.

fun game!!

Mao sounds a whole lot like TAKI (an israeli game with a special deck), the card rules and stuff, except that the rule are set,

I'm actually a very qualified Mornington Crescent player, and I have a Mornington Crescent thread on CFC, in whch I've won against the illustious Padma and AlanH, though it's stalled recently.

Only play 8 man down meself but then you guys probably wouldn't know it?

Anyone want to play hang man?

Scicilian rules or original spike, your choice?

Is this like Calvinball, where you make the rules up as you go along, and the only rule is you can't do the same thing twice?
Only somewhat. Unlike Calvinball, there are rules universal to every game, only one rule can be invented per game, and only by the winner of the previous game.

Mornington Crescent is superior. (I have a British friend.)

I've never actually played Mao myself, though.

Frankly, I prefer calvinball, sounds more fun.

And what if the new rule is, I can make 3 more rules?

It doesn't sound interesting to me, I'd prefer to know the rules beforehand. I could have been named "pwn the beginner", It would be more descriptive.
