    I think a lot of people are gonna overlook the tradition opener because well, it's the opener, but that +3 culture per turn and expansion buff is incredible. I could quite happily take just that from tradition and go down liberty if I had to.

    And I'll just kill off Navigation School now. Sure, the Great Admiral can be quite useful for exploring the world, but by the point you get Navigation School I'd say most of the world should already be explored, and apart from that, the Great Admiral has no real use.

If Merchants, Engineers and Scientist would be separated, this could be good policy, but 25% faster merchant speed seems like a joke, since usually you would want all the GS and maybe GE you can get. Only time i get merchants is when i'm playing Venice or puppet in gold focuses produces one. Double gold from missions is doesn't help that either.

    The honor tree overall isn't very good, but the opener sure is. Not just for the culture but for all of the gold you will get with it. You will know exactly when they pop up which saves your tiles from being pillaged and lets you beat the AI to them.

    Downing the Piety opener not only because it is terrible but because it encourages you to continue shooting yourself in the foot by taking Piety policies. Piety doesn't give you culture or gold at the beginning of the game when you need it and it only gives you a slight increase in faith.
