(Which leads to the part of the analogy where the fence can fail... Espionage mission to destroy the Ultrasonic Fense? That might be funny ...)

I'm pretty sure the fence doesn't stop spy summoned siege worms.
 
Yah, it would make the Worm mission rather pointless. But what I was talking about would be someone farming Aliens early on, leaving the nests to spawn more and more Aliens, relying on a fence and ranged units. Then a competitor's Agent takes down their fence ...
 
No, that's not the case. You can see in the AMD stream that they had many enraged aliens at their borders, including two siege worms, but they couldn't get any closer to the capital after the ultrasonic fence was made.
 
You guys noticed trade routes can speed up outpost growth into a colony ? Should be a usefull thing to do !
 
Pete advised them to build ultrasonic fence since aliens become full hostile. If they didn't had that advice they could've been crushed by siege worms.
 
playing purity and farming electronic fences sounds like a huge OP thing to do.

1) research tech
2) found outpost as close to 2/3 alien nest as possible
3) buy fence
4) farm aliens using range units

This might be the new "isolate barb camp/ neverending CS war" XP farming trick
 
The thing I notice was every building has a advance resource quest. No maintenance or extra culture. Which make it awesome that you get a choice in how each one effects your civ. A lot of replay value.

4) farm aliens using range units

step 2.5 - lose outpost to aliens before it becomes a city and therefore can't go to step 3.

Is there no limit to XP from Alien conquest (like there was on Civ5)?

Probably not. However
1. Aliens coming at you will get stronger and stronger
2. Promotion only gives you +10% bonuses... no 'Logistics, Range, March, Blitz' type superabilities

Its better to be using that to farm Science from the Aliens
