Solving the "opioid crisis"

Penicillin is one of the greatest discoveries in human history. There are so many common diseases that were life threatening that now we don't even think about because of antibiotics.

I was joking

if we're going to all die it's going to be from some antibiotic immune super bug
I tend to be Mr. Medical Research, which is why I bang the drum begging for people to donate to mental health research charities (seriously). But even I have trouble finding charities that work on antibiotics. Scary as heck. The best I can do is help with vaccines, it seems, but it's just not the same thing.

Phage therapy, my man.

Oh, I am passingly familiar with the underlying technologies. I just tend to not see any charities that target this area actively enough, in a massive kind of way. There's a minimum threshold of investment that's required to move the ball forward, which is why I donate my "desperate poverty" earmark to vaccine-related charity. But I've just not seen antibiotic ones. I still put mental health as the lowest-hanging fruit, but gods we'd better be ready with antibiotics before we need them.
