while i was eating lunch, an old memory came back to me out of nowhere. (hate it when that happens) but this memory sent me thinking and i thought it was worth it's own thread:
when i was in canada, at my middle school, we had this Terry Fox Run event where we run around our neighborhood. At the end of this run, we give some guy who's collecting money for charity a toonie(2$). (i think the motto was "A toonie for Terry" or something like that)
So anyway, me and my friends ran around the neighborhood, and when we got back it was time to donate money to charity, except there was one problem. One of my friends didn't have any money.
he iirc just had a penny in his pocket. He said "well something is better then nothing" and my other friend started complaining that it was disrespectful or something and they got into an argument. my other friend convinced him not to donate that penny, but my question is, do you think that something is better then nothing? or do you think that 1 penny is insulting and disrespectful?
IMO if your collecting money for charity, 1 penny is better then nothing, even if it is 1 cent.
EDIT: Poll up.
