Something like VGA Planets

Many, many years ago, I played a lot VGA Planets with my friends. Young people maybe don't know it, but it's a PBEM strategy game, and a very good one, indeed.

Now we are older ( :( ) and we live quite far one from the other, but we want to have a gaming experience again. So, do you have any suggestion? Oh, and I'm not talking about massive games like OGame and Travian, but a "closed" turn-based to play with a small group.

Thanks!

I googled VGAP 4 and got quite a few results. Looks like your friends and you should be able to rekindle the new and improved past :)

VGAPlanet? lol .... i remember that one (i think the one i used to have in my old 486 was back in the early '90s ... v.3.x). it was a classic!

i never got to play w/ others, though i had fun just playing out all the races by myself while experimenting w/ different game parameters.

since then, there has been many more multi-player galactic conquest games. unfortunately, the majority of them turns me off as they are prone to information overload (a good space conquest game should not require graphics much beyond VGA; after all, it is not a flight sim!) and micromanagement (controlling anything more than a dozen worlds and fleet .... aaaaargh! :D)
