OK. This doesn't have anything to do w/ anything int he world and stuff, but I'm just gonna post anyways...
OK. We have a daily-delivery subscription to Chicago Sun-Times. Today(Saturday), I went out on my front porch in the morning like usual to pick up the Saturday newspaper. I pick it up, and right beneath it is another see-through bag thing w/ the SUNDAY edtiton?
My first thought was: Huh?
I hit myself on the head w/ the Saturday paper to get my brain/eyesight "working better" for me and look down again. I still see it.
Second thought: That's not possible.
I blink and hold my eyes closed for a few seconds and then massage my temple and look down again. IT'S STILL THERE!!!
THird and final thought: What the f*ck?
So I pick up the Sunday paper and go back inside. I ignore the Saturday paper - I had to figure out what the hell was up and if the Sunday was actually the Sunday edtion. Yes, it was - it had the TV Guide (which only comes in Sunday editions), separate Travel, Showcase, etc. etc.
I looked at the date on the front of the Sunday newspaper - and it's tomorrow's date - June 1, 2003.
Either I got caugh in some unexplained time warp and just got the Sunday paper and "went back" into "my" time, or they already knew what to print out - so how do they know what to print out? Does the gov't actually tell the newspaper people or something?
Has anything like this ever happened to any of you?
And for all Chicagoans that get the Sun-Times: Did this same thing happen to you, too?
Or am I going crazy? :crazyeye: But I must be sane - I'm holding the TV Guide in my left hand!!! I'm already planning when I'm gonna watch TV and what shows I'm gonna watch throughout the upcoming week! HELP!!!

What you actually got was the Saturday news with the Sunday add-ons (comics, tv guide, travel section, book reviews, etc.). Most newspapers spend all week printing the Sunday edition with the news section printed last. For those people who get the paper delivered by mail, they get the early Saturday edition (printed early Friday evening) and the Sunday edition with news printed early Saturday morning.

What YNCS said... they probably printed the edition ahead of time. Make sure they actually give you a Sunday paper, they may just print it ahead of time and deliver it to save costs.

Weird that is has the date, but the Sunday paper coming on Saturday is the norm with the Times. If you get home delivery, they send you all the Sunday sections on Saturday - but you still get the Saturday front page.

lol not relly its always been separate - only Friday on Fridays, only Saturday on Saturdays, onsly Sunday ONLY ON SUNDAYS, etc. etc. This is the first time it has happened

what happens is that ALL newspaper co's print the papers a WEEK early no matter what paper you get, you must have just gotten cought up in a little rare paper mishap

We always get a part of the friday paper on thursday (there are no newsoaoers on sturday in here so friday newspapers always have a lot of parts summing up the week. The part we get early is the one with the more in depth articles)

If it's only about the TV guide, showcase, Travels, etc then it might just be like YNCS said. If it didn't happen b4 maybe they've decided to change the formula. It could also have been some mistake.

Otherwise, if it has news section in it, that's weird. What was it telling then ?

Why don't you just call them to figure out ?

BTW, this recalls me of a TV serial in which some guy, for some reason received the newspaper one day before the events actually happened. Thanks to it, he prevents many accidents but I wonder why we never see him playing the lotto everyday. He could have been rich. At least, it is what I would do first :p

Newspapers do indeed print the supplements before the actual day. Newsagents often have the Saturday and Sunday supplements on, say, Friday, then when the news sections arrive on the actual day they put it all together before they are delivered/sold.

Sounds like the show Early Edition, and that was the Chicago Sun-Times also.

Printing a paper a week early? They must be really good at predicting the future than...

Its usually the night before.

It's like that tv show Early Edition! Quickly! Go out into the city and save people using your early newspaper as a guide! Also make friends with a blind woman and some guy who owns a restraunt. ;)

Yeah, I liked that show. :( My preference must be something akin to the kiss of death—the shows rarely make it past season 2.
