Update 3
Rising Trade

New Rule: Trade Centers

To create a Trade Center, you need a city already on the map to upgrade.

Trade Centers are like regular cities only their trade income is calculated in with it's LP into my calculations for trade route worth. For instance, Iraf (the city) is trading with a Somali city and the route is worth 1 LP. The catch is that the Trade+City LP thing is only factored in when A.) A new trade route is created or B.) When existing trade upgrades (to moderate or to major). C.) Every five turns after a trade route become a Major.

This is to prevent exponentially increasing trade worth.

Because of how expensive Trade Centers are, it's possible to put LPs into them over several turns. Note, that if the cost if Trade Centers increase, you have to store more LP period.

Commentary

Spoiler :
Global

Trade is flourishing and with it, the demand for specialized trade cities, trade centers. For the most part, the world is at peace. The Targaryen Empire and Bering Tribe have created their second cities and Jerusalem has usurped Kobenhavn as world's wealthiest cities. Jerusalem lucked out being as close to the Eastern Mediterranean as it is, otherwise, it would never even had a chance to trade with King's Landing and Dragonstone.

Meanwhile, Bering is trading with itself. However, the lack of actually new goods from another culture means trade wealth is low.

Overall, nine new cities.

Creating a city costs 24 LPs this turn and are worth 6 LPs.
Upgrading a city to being a Trade Center costs 36 LPs this turn

Europe

Euskaldunak has founded Bilbo and expanded wildly across lands guarded by their god, Pirinioak.

Invest all 20 IPs into IP growth.

The Angolan Tribe, normally a loose confederacy, began uniting around this timeperiod. The first signs of expansion inland, to take advantage of inland resources - and the extra space it provided, as Angolan population began to rise exponentially during this timeperiod. Agriculture began to flourish along inland rivers and lake, forming the fronter into a valuable part of the nation.

I am going away for a bit, I would like Iraf NPC'ed while I am gone :)

The Euskaldunak had grown prosperous, but spread out. Small Euskaldunak groups now roamed the east coast of Iberiar, as they had taken to calling their homeland. Over the years, Euskaldunak bands migrated further and further south, before reaching the end of Iberiar. Small boats took to the seas, and found that there was another land not so far away. This alarmed many, and there was a mass return to Bilbo, the true heartland of the Euskaldunak. As had happened before, there was an immense debate. Some said this land was also protected by Pirinioak, but others said that it must have been territory of the Dark Men. Arguments erupted, and brother fought with brother. Blood was spilled.

Eventually, there was a decision. A armed party would sail across and explore the area. The explorers were hailed as the bravest of men as they sailed into the unknown, ready to look evil in the face without blinking.

The men returned later. Upon landing, they had encountered bands of men. But these were not Euskaldunak, they did not speak Euskara. The Euskaldunak explorers had done as they had to do, and massacred them. Since they were not of the Euskaldunak, they had to have been the corrupted men of the Other. There had been many, and the explorers had been forced to sail back to Euskaldunak.

The elders were terrified at this news. The Dark Men of the Other were living so close to the holy land guarded by Pirinioak. They called for the greatest men, the strongest and bravest from the many tribes of the Euskaldunak to unite against this threat. Many ships were assembled, and the Euskaldunak marched as one.

The Euskaldunak overwhelmed the natives of the land to the south, a land which was named Marokon, after one of the Gods that had betrayed Pirinioak. The people who had been living there were massacred, and the northern tip was depopulated. The Euskaldunak set up small outposts there, to defend their homeland from any threat, real or percieved.

Huaxia

After hearing rumours of an aggressive military power in the Land of the Rising Sun, the Yellow Emperor has declared the formation of "forward bases" on foreign soil, meant to combat the growth of this potential threat to Huaxia. Although travel over the high seas is difficult, three forward bases in Korea, Taiwan and Cheju Island have been established. In addition, many small villages and towns are popping up all over the Empire.

You do know you have 7 free expansion points, right? (2 from RPing, 5 from everyone getting their orders in, check post under update).

Can you possibly just move the city to the west end of my starting province? That was the only thing in my orders you didn't do anyway.

Can you possibly just move the city to the west end of my starting province? That was the only thing in my orders you didn't do anyway.

Oh. I thought you meant you wanted me to place the city west of your starting province. I'll correct that for the next update.

The Targaryens had expanded from Rhodes Dragonstone like wildfire. Any fighting, with or without dragons, had yet to occur, and King Aegon wished to continue this tradition. Therefore, the Targaryens are humbly asking its neighbors in Jerusalem to not expand any more to the landmass in their southwest unless they use ships further to the south (ooc: Dibs on Egypt)

On Dragonstone, Aegon was pondering how to expand further. Colonies would do for now, but without any organized presence on in larger lands, barbarians might very well overwhelm the new city of King's Landing. He would use his volunteer settlers to expand along the coast and near his neighbor's border to better protect his fledgling city.
Spoiler claims :
oqSJ6.png

Next, he would found a new city on Western Crete Driftmark, marking the edge of his current kingdom, and as a starting point to expand westwards in the future. This city would be gifted to his vassal, admiral, and most of all, friend, Lord Alyn Velaryon. Apart from King's Landing, new strongholds and ports would be gifted to vassals to govern, so that they would know their loyalty is rewarded well.

Despite the new city, there was still money in the treasury. Almost all of it would be put to use in King's Landing to improve the roads and docks (8LP into King's Landing). The remainder of the gold would be sent to Driftmark to begin the construction of a proper marketplace and advanced port (1LP into Driftmark to make it a trade center - gotta start somewhere ). This center of trade would be used to further assist his plans for western expansion.

Aegon sat back on his throne, content with his plans and the future of his country. He ordered his scribe to relay the plans throughout the kingdom. With his guidance, his people would be the greatest civilization the world would ever see. But he would not live forever... unless... Aegon grinned, and went to the dragon pit to plan for the future.

We accept.

AA asked me how trade works and I figured many of you are interested in how I'm determining this so yeah.

The math is simple. I kinda do trade on a rule of thumb so Stone Age cities (being a trade center doesn't affect this) can't really trade THAT far. I try to think of who would've met who by now and then work from there regarding trade. The actual math is easier to explain. I take the average City LP of the two cities and then divide the number twice and twice again for a minor route (only divide once if it's a foreign trade route).

Trade Centers are really beneficial for cities which have a high amount of trade because at the time of creation, I add the trade LPs of that city to the City LPs and then readjust the worth of all the current trade routes. Long story short, this greatly boosts trade for everybody and kinda reflects trade routes like the Silkroad since a trade center boosts the trade LPs of all the cities it's trading with just because it's LP is even higher.

Also, I take the average of the cities to determine JUST THE MINOR ROUTE which means finding a trade center is very beneficial since I increase the trade route worth by 50% when it becomes a Moderate and 50% again when it becomes a Major.

To change a trade route from Minor to Moderate to Major is a different story. I do a check on all the existing routes. There's a 10% chance of an upgrade for each. Signing a trade agreement increases this chance to 30%.

Is there anybody I can trade with?

Then I offer Jerusalem a trade route.

However, I did ask you about distance too. It's kinda odd (but realistic) how Jerusalem has an inland city that can do naval trade with me.

Is there anybody I can trade with?

I can probably stretch out an route with Iraf. But if you move your city to the center province, not really.

@AA

If the city is sorta within distance of a coast, I'd allow it like I did for RS. Namely because I didn't want to be a stickler when I'm using a map like this.
