Sorry CtP2 fans, but don't buy Civ3

Sorry all you who've already bought the CTP2, but don't buy civ3. I've seen the screen-shots. They are just like CTP2. I Hate to dissapoint you, but...

By all means, if you're just buying the game for the graphics. But that's like the most unimportant thing in a civ-genre game...I'm confident that civ3 will be much better than CtP2 is.

Just look at some hints that we've had concerning some of the game concepts etc.

I must agree that graphics isn't the most important, but still...Remember this is what you're going to look on for hours!!!

But I would be happy anyway if the game concept is great.

I don't think the graphics are so important in these games. If the game was 3D or if the graphics were smoother the game will be even harder to control the CTP2.
And one think I'm sure will be better in CivIII is the diplomacy. It's really hard to talk to the other side like this. And there are so many stupid Ideas in there. Did anyone ever got a city from another country? you can offer them any amount of money and any tech, but they just won't give me they're cities.

I think I read somewhere that it was a bug that prevented the AI-controlled civs to give you a city.

Civ 3 can't be worse than CTP2. There's nothing worse!

The civ series has never been about graphics, there are many many games which will blow CTP2 and CIV3 right out of the water. Just take a look at civ II, it looks cheesie lol. Like I said it has nothing to do with looks. How many video games which are over 6 years old can maintain the game loyalty and fans which CIV II has? How many games that are 6 years old have as many fan developers that CIV II has? Its the strategy that is the most import aspect of the series. You can play a scenario over and over again and take differnt approaches via strategy or the civ you choose. You decide the direction you take. It is not static like most video games. Sure CIV3 graphis can be compared to CTP2, but its all of the new strategic ways of playing the game, and all of the new options, like garisoning a city or completely destroying it. that will be the hudge differnce.

I might be wrong but thats just my opinion. Happy civing.

Well to prove the title wrong I started playing Civ 2 again and I can say that it is definately better than CTP2

Alpha centari game was worse-i hate that damn game so much. And yes CIVIII has same graphics as ctp and ctp2-----but better game flow-ctp was to fast and had flaws i didnt like-i wish block buster rented out comp games

CTP2 is ok but the tech-tree is a bit (LARG BIT) weird.

JUST GIVE ME CIV ANYDAY I PERSONALLY THINK ITS THE BEST GAME EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
