sound 3D acceleration? / screen resolution

When first installing the game, I have not been able to start it with 3D sound hardware acceleration (Terratec DMX 6fire: Sensaura 3D) set to "On". After disabling the 3D sound, I can play, but intro movie and wonder movies don't play the sound very well. (1st wonder movie works though). If anyone knows how to fix it, I'd appreciate the help. -- There is no new driver for my card available.

Apart from that, I'd like to know if anyone suceeded in setting the resolution to something less than 1024x768.
