Sound FX playing over and over and over

basicly i just wanted some new eyes to see this and hopfully i can get some help

basically, a sound fx (money grrunting) plays over and over untill it causes a resource shutdown. it is 'solved' by muting all sounds. but i kinda wanna hear the music i grew to enjoy over the years.

Baron Scot, I have the exact same problem on my computer! While that has not stopped me from playing dozens of Civ3 games, it really is irritating and I would love to find a solution to it. My computer's not out of date or anything, so I don't know what's up. It sounds like you have not found a fix yet, but if you do I would love to hear about it!

Why would you want to hear the music? It's possibly the crappiest, most annoying computer-game music I've ever heard. I liked the music in Civ2, but what they did in 3 is just horrible.

My girlfriend has this happen sometimes. I love it, personally, because she likes to play with the music, which I can't stand, and when this occurs she has to mute all sounds or reboot, and she won't reboot.
