So, I was going to post a bigger map I made for this scenario, but I can't place the start locations on it. I also can't put any on the .biq file that came with the mod, so my question is: NavyDawg did you have any trouble with this while making this mod? Or did you somehow lock the map?
 
Alright, for those of you who wanted a slightly bigger galaxy to explore, here is a huge sized map I made:

A few notes:
1. Yes, I'm aware that Earth is not the center of the galaxy.
2. I didn't want the map to be extremely balanced, so you will find that some starting locations are better than others. This just means that playing some races will be harder than others.
3. I also wanted more competition for resources, so no star system (except maybe Sol, can't remember) has all the strategic resources. Therefore is is crucial to colonize other systems early.

I hope this will bring more fun for you guys with this great mod!
 
Well that's the mark of a great scenario, when people start making there own mods of it. Good job Leaven, I look forward to playing it.

I love this scenario NavyDawg! The feel and overall ambient is truly spectacular, this is the kind of scenario that genuinely reinvents the whole style of the Civ gaming engine. This is the kind of thing I'm going for in my scenario, a whole new feeling when playing. You're excellenet mod has sparked grand ideas within me! Worry not, for my scenario/mod is centered around feudal Japan so I won't be stealing any ideas. However, I will be taking into consideration how you went about creating your mod. ;)

I will definitely make some maps for this bad boy! It's just too precious not too!

By the way, the soundtrack is superb! Mind giving me the names of the tracks you have in it. They totally remind of the good ole' 80s fantasy sci-fi movies!
 
Navydawg: Seeing as to the popularity of your scenario, may I suggest your next project be turning it into a MOD? I can't wait for the copy of CIV I ordered to come.
 
Hope you don't mind me altering some of the rules in yours in order to make it more suitable for my map. (increasing costs for some techs, and a very minor unit change)

I'm going to try and make it like a real galaxy map, with large distances in between civs. Then battles shall be epic. :)

@ Polyphemus, if you mean making it random map compatible, it just won't work. The Civ III generator even with 80% ocean, islands would make way too many land squares. It's gonna have to be played on a set map.

@ Bluemofia, of course I don't mind. Alter it any way you think works. I've already made a few changes to my biq for the next release. I'm looking forward to seeing your bigger map.

It is.

A MOD is a game that has different rules, and played with random maps.
A MAP is a game that has a set map, but standard rules.
A SCENARIO is a game that has a set map, but different rules.

Anything you can tell me about the tracks in the scenario? I would love to know at least who made them. A PM would be more than sufficient! ;)

Error reading file
missing entry in "text\pediaicons.txt": TECH_freswater

I've tried searching for a file called tech_* but no luck...:(

Any ideas?

Downloading just the map file I posted won't be enough, you need to download the whole scenario in the first post of this thread. Then, once you have extracted that download into your Scenarios folder, you can put my map in there too and open it properly. The error you are having comes from the map file looking for NavyDawg's new technologies, which are named in the biq but don't exist until you get the whole scenario.
 
@ Gen Rommel, I can't find the URL where I got the music, but I'll keep looking and get it to you if I come across it.

@ Polyphemus, I though the same about mod vs. scenario distinction as what Bluemofia wrote. As to interfaces, I might tackle a few, but it may quickly exceed my not-so-hot paint skills.

I allready had all of it, and the original scenario loads ok. It's only this one that crashes :( I checked the files requested in that txt file, and I got them all... what can I be missing?...
