Spearman vs. Tank

^^^ A warrior would generally be strong-as-hell not to mention barbaric by modern standards whereas the worker would generally be of average strength and see the warrior as being an insane psychopath and run away.

Civil defense does not equal a worker. That's a citizen who is armed => a militant combatant => a military unit.

If people are going to complain about things that they don't like (spearman beating tank), in fairness shouldn't we also complain about things that are unrealistic but to our advantage? Tanks as city raiders? They should have negative modifiers attacking a city not + ones. It is easy to disable a tank in rubble strewn, close quarters. Out in the field, they will blast your spearman to bits before they get in range.

In spearman basic training, they have required reading on how to open a tank hatch and pour a five gallon bucket of gasoline down the hole. Then they poke anythin that comes crawling out.

So if a tank attacks a tank attacks a spearman in a city the spearmen gets a good chance to win?
A single spearman, especially a short thin one, deserves at least a draw because in a city he can hide in places the tank cannot go after him :scan:

Of course, we don't expect tank crew getting out of the tank armed with handguns, do we ?

It's kind of silly to attack with tanks on a city only armed with spearmen instead of artillery and aircraft in the real world. But in CivIV, it's better to attack with armored units. Hmm...
actually, soften up those spearmen with your bombers while your tanks heal up and i'll bet you won't lose a single tank.

I was paying attention to my promotions depending on what situation i was in. I wasn't cutting down any forests or jungles so i used Woodman II as a Praetorian and still got beat by Warriors who had no promotions.

Was your Praetorian attacking? Woodman promotion is defense-only. If the warrior was across a river on a forested hill, it would be an 8.0 vs 4.0 battle, which you should generally win, but losing it wouldn't be rare by any means.
