Speculation for Southeast Asian civs in Civ6

Which Southeast Asian civ will be in Civ6 vanilla?

Would Ho Chi Minh be a feasible leader for Vietnam?
Could have a great anti-colonialist agenda in Civ6.
"Dislikes it when civilizations of other continents settle or occupy cities on his own continent." or something similar.

Probably. Doubt it'd happen though.

I would have thought America would be over Vietnam by now but last year the Amazing Race went to Vietnam and they had Vietnam's national anthem on the show. I guess some of the lyrics offended some people and the show aired an apology the next week. That'd make me hesitant to put in anything really relevant to the war.

I think the Trung sisters are a prime opportunity for a female leader. That'd be the way to go IMO.

I think he's a plausible leader, but he would be courting controversy far more than someone like Stalin would (in addition to veterans of the Vietnam War, the big one to me are the Vietnamese-Americans who fled South Vietnam). Plus, it's passing up the opportunity for a female leader.

Yeah, it probably won't happen. Maybe they'll go for the sisters as a double act. TWO female leaders for the price of one!
My viewpoint comes from the remark Ed Beach made that the leaders will be big personalities and historical agendas. So, I'm wondering what the agenda of the Trưng sister could be.

My guess is anti expansionist. Hates civs that settle in "their lands." Something along that line since their claim to fame is resisting Chinese domination.

I'm not entirely sure if Southeast Asia will be represented in the Civ6 vanilla. If it is, I hope it is Khmer, because they built Angkor Wat (which is represented in Civ5 as a wonder). I would not mind Vietnam (though it is different from other Mainland SE Asian nations for its strong ties to China), Burma (for their monumental architecture at Bagan and Shwedagon Pagoda), or Indonesia (for Borobudur and other monuments). Philippines would be nice for DLC/Expansions (it would make some Filipino Civ players happy!)

I'm really surprised at how popular Vietnam is around here.
I still think it's going to be Burma, if not, it'll be Khmer or even Siam. I guess we will see. Also possible that Southeast Asia isn't represented at all.

And besides, how am I, as Victoria, to recreate the British Raj without Burma? But seriously Bayinnaung (King of Ten Directions) or Anawrahta sounds like a much bigger personalities than the Trung sisters (who would be fun) but ultimately lost the war against the Chinese. It'll be like Boudica.

I voted for Khmers, but I would also like any other listed civ, except Philippines, for two reasons :
- I can't name any leaders
- The Philippines are so multi-cultural, and this country changed so much during its history, that it cannot really be represented in Civ. Post colonial and pre colonial Philippines are entirely different countries.

One could say the same for Malaysia. The Civ5 mod for Malaysia combines a Malaccan sultanate ruler of Parameswara with a modern city list, plus pesilat and a kampong.

Having a pre-Colonial leader (Gajah Mada) in charge of Indonesia didn't seem to bother Firaxis. Like how the Trung Sisters weren't even the ruler of what will now call Vietnam.

Jose Rizal is a possible leader for Philippines (like he is in the Civ5 mod). For pre-Colonial leaders, Lapu-Lapu or Lakandula would work.

According to the recently "leaked" picture showcasing all the leaders (which could be a hoax), there are no Southeast Asian civilizations in the basegame, which would mean for me I'm 100% not buying the game.

Southeast Asia must have at least one civilization in the base game.

I'm not sure how much I trust that those pictures are the leaders in the game. Let's give the people at Firaxis credit enough to believe that they wouldn't leak that kind of major information. That being said, I would blithely sacrifice Southeast Asia for another Middle Eastern, Western Asian, or Native American civ.

How could you say that?

Southeast Asia MUST be represented in the basegame! It's home to many great civilizations, and has a population almost as large as that of Europe, while larger than that of North America!

Ain't Middle Eastern and Western Asian, the same exact thing?

I'm disappointed SE Asia is not represented in the vanilla, but oh wells. I will wait for DLC/Expansions to add Khmers/Siam/Burma/Vietnam/or Indonesia to the game.

I simply won't buy the game. I'd gladly dump Poland, Brazil Sweden, India with annoying Gandhi, or "Egypt" for a Southeast Asian civilization.

I'm NOT paying 60 bucks for a game which is terribly Eurocentric and gives me no civs I like, then expect me to pay another 30 bucks for an expansion! Take that Firaxis!

I don't doubt it, but it's also a group of civilizations I can't say I have any interest in. I have a great interest in China and a moderate interest in Korea, but tropical civilizations just don't appeal to me. To be honest, they could fill the game with only Middle Eastern civs without my having any problem with it. ;)

The Middle East is in Western Asia, yes, but I was using the term in a broader context to mean all of Asia west of India. I'd love to see Armenia or Georgia in the game, for example, but Armenia and Georgia are not typically included in the Middle East nor are they exactly Central Asia.

I speculate* none at release.

and I could care less. We'll see them in an expansion eventually.

I'd like to see Burma this time (now known as Myanmar).

Though I would also be happy with Vietnam, preferably under the Trung Sisters; or the Khmer.

I picked Burma, but getting tag-teamed on the leader screen could be pretty amusing.
