Speculation: Playable City States as a 'Challenge' Game?

Now, this is pure speculation, but I wonder if anyone else would be interested in the idea of playing a 'minor' city state rather than a 'real' civ as a kind of challenge game similar to the OCC.

You would presumably be much more limited in what you could actually do, and it might not be possible to 'win,' but maybe just surviving til the end or becoming part of a successful alliance could be a kind of victory.

I assume it won't be possible in the original vanilla release, but would maybe be the kind of thing someone could mod in, or it could be included in an expansion.

That would be a Great Idea.

One thing, I think city-States will be key in any "diplomatic" victory (only those that are not trying to win will vote for you)

So a CSC (City-State Challenge) could be 'won' by your "Friend" winning a diplomatic victory

That would be a fascinating way to play the game. As a city state, you have a huge bonus that not only you get, but your allies get as well. Since you're limited to one city, the entire game would not be about victory, but self preservation, and trying to pick allies that will be able to protect you and win the game.

It would be pretty weird, though. Since City States are supposed to give such big bonuses, you'll get several civs sending you nice things in a desperate attempt to ally with you and get the bonus. Guess that would make you feel like a girl before the high school prom.

I mentioned this idea in another thread. I think it's an excellent idea since I found OCCs so much fun. :D

Here's hoping you can. That way a Hungarian player could get to play Budapest. It's not the same as a full blown Civ but it'd be better than nothing.
