I have a question about the combat I-V promotions.

I know that the strength bonus +20% stacks with each level netting +100% at Combat V.

Each level also says +5 spell damage. Is this +5% or +5 points of damage?

Does the spell damage stack too (i.e. +25 at Combat V)?

I'm not sure how valuable these promotions are for my mages. In my last game I was trying to get three mages with 3 levels of both Death and Fire Mana to promote to Liches. Once I had done this, I started pumping points into their Combat promotions hoping that it would make their spells more powerful.

Makes summoned units better IIRC.

Im a Sorcerer-path follower myself. Getting Sorcerers or Archmages some Combat promotion allows them to go pwn Barbarians in remote locations, thus levelling them even faster. I just love to send my Sorcerer's on "Pilgrim trips" and have them return with full Combat, Mobility and level III of two spell-trees.

Well, spell damage is listed in Strength % damage. So I would guess it is a 5% ?
edit: although it could first calculate damage , and then list it as a %... so , uh... does this help ? :D

Well...the bottom line is that Combat V will give my casters stronger balls (intentially trying to keep Skallben laughing). So this promotion line is just what the doctor order to prepare my lich units to rain down firey doom.

As a side not, the limited archmages (magi?) that follow after the liches went along a different promotion path. Once Hyborem gets into the game, having Nature III is imperative to Revitalize the damaged lands (after they have been Sanctified of course).

Hell terrain doesn't do anything to the underlying terrain. Hyborem's presence in the world is irrelevant to your need for Nature III.

flood plains and trees are destroyed by conversion though?
spring is definately more needed though
