Spies and counter-intelligence

Choose the proper religious beliefs to block GP assasination in your cities. I can't check at the moment but one belief comes with a building that blocks this when you constructed it.

True. But that's only a single belief which gives a pretty useless otherwise building. And only one player can have it. There should be another way to prevent spies wrom wrecking a city.
 
Yeah no I've been saying this for a while.

Spies suck at counter-intelligence, plain and simple. That's the conclusion I've reached after trying them out different styles over about a dozen games

Even level 3 spies can't catch anything in my games without at least a constab.

You're better off just sticking them in an enemy city, since likewise, their spies are unlikely to catch yours. I've only ever had one or two spies die while in enemy territory, and that was after Police Stations.
