ok, i hope to dear god at least one of you who reads this knows what halo 2 is. Please! ok if don't, go to google and type in "halo.bungie.org" without the quotes and browse round, get a feel for the site, and yes they do have a forum too.

now, down to business. I am trying to recruit people to help me out with a project for converting halo2 levels to civilization3.(I hope you know what civ is too :crazyeye:  ) I will probably do it like the first couple of levels as the MC, then the next few you play as the arbiter, then Delta Halo levels, then the library, wich i was hoping would be able to play from the flood's, human's, and arbiter's side, then the next two maps would be the MC's adventures in high charity, and the last would be the final level.

any thoughts? any suggestions? anyone wanna help????????? :)

Sub-forums are for finished files only, questions, suggestions and the like go in the main forum: http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46

And.....I have no idea how you could make an entertaining conversion of an FPS to TBS. Or why.
Its generally not a good idea to advertise other sites in your post, either, just so you know; if you have to, it would be better to put it as a 'post-script' rather than a first line.

so you guys obviously don't want to help. maybe you could've put it nicer, and it would not be pointless. If you thought I would stick to the actual storyline you are nuts :crazyeye: . How in sam's hill would that work. And about the advertising thing, its not being paid for is it? If you don't like it, you don't have to spend anything there. BTW give consturctive critism please. I would like this to go somewhere.

P.S. I would like help if anyone wants to, but if you don't it will still come, Just probably alot later than "soon"

peace-civisme

Don't you mean a "Halo 2 mod for Civ 3"? I agree with GRM, it sounds pointless. A mod based on the Halo universe might be ok, but a ripoff of the campaign would be a waste of time in a TBS game.

ok the first part I aggre with, mispelling on my part. sorry. the second part of your post puzzles me. Did I not make myself clear, cause if i didn't ill clearify it right here and now: ITS NOT A RIPOFF OF THE CANPAIGN, IT WILL BE DIFFERENT ;). ok...now thats over with, after I finish this project, I may do another, SIMILAR project.

P.S. I think this may have sounded too harsh, but don't know how to put it any differently. No hard feelings, k?

peace

When I said advertising, I meant it could be interpreted as such, or interpreted as a bit silly. Telling people to go get interested in the subject matter and then come back to talk about it isn't likely to garner much attention.
What I (and WO too, Ithinks) meant by it being a silly idea is that your first post mentioned levels and adventures in scenario format, which just doesn't translate to a TBS well, especially not one with so many bits hard-coded as Civ3. Even trying to pull of squad-based strategy (of the X-Com school) in civ doesn't work well, although some people might disagree with me.
The best suggestion for you would be to make the project a full game mod (which WO alluded to), with Halo units, weapons, and races, focusing on a much more strategic scale, and not involving characters, levels, or role-playing as key elements. The biggest issue I'd see with that is....getting units. For a real "halo" mod you'd want to have Halo's unique units featuring prominently, none of which (AFAIK) have been made, although I'm pretty sure some of Kal-El's posted sketches were at least partly 'inspired' by Halo equipment. The thing to do would be post a request or two in the appropriate unit request thread for Halo units, to get you started. Consider attempting collaboration with other people doing sci-fi mods, to garner support for new units. Or learn how to make units yourself.

LOL. I'm sorry i can't help but laugh. This has got to be one of the stupidest (if not the stupidest) idea i've ever heard of. I think GRM7584 put it quite nicely (though i wouldn't have said it so nicely.) I highly discourage you from doing this... for your own benifit. You'll just end up making a fool of yourself in then end cause i don't see how this could go anywhere. How on earth do you expect to convert the halo maps into something remotely close to what they really are?! wow... this is pretty sad. I might actully enjoy seeing you do this-just for the entertainment.

btw....
ok, i hope to dear god at least one of you who reads this knows what halo 2 is. Please!...
does anyone else find this funny? :p

...good luck....on the mod...i guess...ha...

hmmm also.... Spoilers? lol spoilers of what? not much to be spoiled...

One thing that needs to be noted. A group tried this a while back, and they didn't do much after a year of work. You should just go and recall the people from here.

Wow. They kinda sucked...I wasn't going to do mine that way, and no offense to them but they seem like total n00bs. I was going to have techs upgrade your main charachter (mc or arbiter). Its different than I think you belive this is going to be like, and to be noted is the fact that I got much warmer welcome and advice from HBO than you guys...sheesh. They supported me, and i might withdraw from this site because if you find this to be some sort of joke, you are a) cruel and b) not worth being around.

peace or something...

Actually, that wouldn't be too hard compared to the rest. X- and Y- wrapping on a long, thin map would simulate a Halo.

edit: Sorry to come across as being so negative and critical, esp on a newb, but there have been a lot of really crazy mod ideas (including my own) that just aren't practical in a Civ3 world. This forum is full of dead mods that never got beyond an ideas thread like this one. And a Halo, while not as far-fetched as some ideas, just isn't fit for civ IMO. Don't get me wrong, they are both awesome games, but pizza and ice cream are both awesome too and... well, you get the picture. ;)

Ok, two points.
1. You have no positive influence at all, and I haven't seen you trying to correct me where I aparently went wroung here, n00b.

2. Spoilers from Halo 2, just in case anyone hasn't finished. I was being considerate.

P.S. I'm sorry about the alleged "advertising". I didn't relize you considered that adivertsing. my apologies. I also am going to finish this, hopefully UNDER a year, unlike those other people who tried it...I really do hope you could at least tell me WHY this is pointless, other than it being that it was hard, because WW2 global was hard, but Rochtech finished it.

thx dood, you actually TRIED to come across as considerate, and you were. This proves it actually NOT THAT HARD. thx man, you should serve as an example to all! :king:

on a latter note, I LIKE SMILIEES!!!!!! :crazyeye: :crazyeye:   :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

I would recommend avoiding things that could be construed as insults, as its against forum rules to participate in flame wars; I can only speak for myself, but I'm trying to be as constructive as possible with the given topic. Perhaps it would help if you imagined the inverse: someone coming onto a Halo forum wanting to do a Civ3 mod.
It was not advertising in a conventional sense, I could have worded it better; but starting a post with a link to another site telling people they should go there if they don't know what your post is about tends to be ill-received on any forum.

I didn't intend to be so negative... guess it was kinda a thing of the moment... but i still cant seem to think of anything positive to say. I figured i was helping you by pointing you in the other direction. Feedback is feedback, if you dont like it, dont read it.
