The Soprano's thread made me think of this...

Deadwood is easily the best dramatic show I've ever seen on TV. Just curious if any of you other Deadwood fans have heard anything about Season 3? I believe they start airing in June.

And, while I put a [Spoilers] tag on the thread, also try and indicate spoilers in individual posts. Thanks. :)

Great show from what I've seen. I've only made it through season one so I can't really predict what happens in 3, but I'm looking forward to it. Starts about a week after the Sopranos season 6 ends, which is june 4 I think.

Season 2 starts a little uneven, IMO, like they're trying to do too much. But, it gets better, fast. :)

[Mild Spoiler]

In the very last scene of the last episode of season 2, you can see the actor who played Medivoy on NYPD Blue (forget his name atm, but I like him a lot). I'm hoping that's a hint that he'll be in Season 3.

I watched about 15 minutes of the first show of season 1 and flipped channels. WAY too much profanity just for the sake of profanity for my tastes.

Deadwood's a great show. Season 2 ended with a bang but there are still lots of plot threads hanging. There are some great actors in this series but Ian McShane definitely carries the show!

Its authentic to the era.

Actually people didn't curse that much in those days. People today generally do not curse that much.

The level of profanity ruined the show for me. There was no logical reason to include the F-word in just about every sentence.

I think Into the West is much better.

Deadwood is a fantastic show. i've seen every episode as they've aired.

i could care less about the cursing really...i mean, i have a foul mouth myself. so it doesn't phase me in the least bit.

i haven't heard or seen anything in relation to any upcoming plots. however, they did sort of set the table for us at the end of season 2.

Swearengen is perhpas the best character on all of tv imo.

According to the DVD-commentaries they used vast resources to make the language as authentic as possible.

Great show! Looking forward to season 3 :)

You must live in a nice neighborhood.:mischief: I've been around a long time and I'm here to tell you that people are cursing more now and cursing more in public than they ever did fifty years ago. We've now got children and women whose everyday speech would make a sailor blush.

Very sad, because when taboo words become everyday speech they lose their power and their mystery. Every language needs a few good taboo words to liven things up once in a while and we are losing ours.

Just like today, its relative to a variety of things.

The research I've read indicates its not out of place. Would it be out of place in a show about rural Maine in the 1880s? Yes. But at the edge of the frontier in a town largely populated by ruffians, vagabonds, and criminals? Not at all.

Anyone have any spoilers for season 3? :)
