Sports in Civ4

Has anyone noticed, but there aren't any sports in CIV4. In the "real world" sports play a huge role in society. Middle and High Schools, along with Colleges, and even COUNTRIES have sports teams. CIV4 also doesnt include the Olympics, the huge Leagues, or the small town sports. How can this be? cause they didnt think of it. Now its us, the modders, that take the field to show those big time programmers that we, the people, can be cool too. Now join up in our quest to rid the world of evil and give the "Commoners" their fun.

Damn i think he could understand the first time,but just incase two times would put it in his mind. throwing a flash in his face is just being a dick.

Olympics wouldnt be bad though,or some form of World Competition,providing marginal temporary bonuses. I dont see what a local or national sports could add to the game though.

Yes but not very well.

A modern stadium upgrade to the colosseum would be a good idea.

And possibly and Olympic national wonder.

Don't respond to perceived harshness in kind. If you think someone is being rude and aggressive, that's what the report post button is for. I'm not a mod, but this sort of thing will tend to draw negative attention from mods.

If you check graphics modpacks, you'll find at least one excellent modern-age skin for the colosseum. Consider starting there.

the olympic games could be a thing that goes between countries that make an olympic stadium?

Back in the beginning of Civ4 modding there was a Random Events mod that started from a mod that had an olimpic games that moved around from civ to civ or some such. I don't remember whole made it or anything, but I've played around off and on with remaking it in v1.61 and warlords, but never have gotten around to it.

Having recently made good progress in creating new game screens I am once again thinking of making a new Olimpic Games Mod with its own screen and a half dozen or so olimpic events.

Each event would be tied to some ability of units, strength is an obvious one, movement rate, line of sight range, ect. Each time the olimpic games happens you will be able to pick several of your units and put them in the games to compete, useing the new Olimpic Games Screen to monitor their progress and such.

You could have like a voting seesion like a un type thing where you vote for which city it is to be in like the IOc meeting. Then the person who has the olympics in their city gets a nice commerce bonus, gold bonus and a bonus for like an olympic stadium or something to that affect.

i think it shud be like in the old zeus games where your athletes compete every 4 years. the more stadiums etc you have the better you athletes will do. it cud also be decided who host the olympics

Just my 2 cents but You could have the Sports encompass the entire breadth of time. Begin with Something like the "Olympic Games". Then as you proceed through time new technologies or custom Technologies will create new Sports such as Modern Day Football, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, & Hockey. There are many other sports out there and these are simply examples. An Idea for the Olympic Games might require each Civ or at least that a Civ has a Spearman before they can compete. The reason I say the spearman is because some of the oldest Games include throwing competitions of Javelins. If I get a better feel for Civ 4 modding I'll try to help you with this mod.
