Spring Patch Info

You are confusing two different things. The civ5 meme post and Sarah's post here are completely unrelated. When Sarah says "We’ll have more info on when you can expect the update soon on our social channels, so stay tuned", she was saying that there will be future posts on social media with more details about the patch. She was not talking about the civ5 meme post.
Well, maybe it's my fanatical (mis)reasoning, but the tweet came after Sarah's post, so it seems perfectly logical to me to try to find a connection. :p

But we don't know that for sure, do we?

Nice with a little communication even if there's no new information - hope it's the beginning of a new direction in communication and not just damage control.

Either way I never check facebook or twitter for news or anything other than family stuff... dunno if I'm the only dinosaur :undecide: or if I just understand social media better and avoid all the marketing :shifty:

can someone explain the civ5 meme?

I think the confusion is that this was posted on the Civ VI account.

You aren't the only dinosaur. I don't even have Facebook/Twitter account :P

In civ5, the AI England had the annoying catchphrase "would you like to make a trade agreement with England?" when it would offer you a trade deal. So the post is playing off of that by making the joke that if you get a note that says "would you like make a trade agreement?", you won't need to wonder who sent the note.

But civ only has the civ6: rise and fall twitter account. I believe that is the official account for all things civ related now. So not sure why people would be confused. Plus, civ6 can make a civ5 joke. Just like XCOM2 could post a joke about XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

I see, I don't really follow Twitter. I would think the Civ VI account would only be used for Civ VI while other non-Civ VI related things would be posted on Sarah's account. But I now realize I just made that rule up. But I can say I was confused when I saw the England thing posted on the Civ VI account, causing me to speculate about an Elizabeth addition.

Separately, why is that catchphrase so annoying?

See he even says it is so here
with a tad of artistic license

BTW, if anyone does not know what a Manky is -

Ahhhh; now I see why it was imperative to disarm the British. Ya'll make immoderate use of guns cringe-worthy

Maybe they want to trade with us. We give something and get info in return. :scan:

Someone agree to that trade agreement.

Sometimes... a cigar is just a cigar.

Good thing Sarah clarified. I was pretty sure this was an offer to send us an Elizabeth alt leader in exchange for something we value. I was about to organize a mob to send them Eagle Pursuit.

After all, what use is a prophet if not to sacrifice at a time of high emotions?

She sort of drawls it out in a bored tone of voice, and says it whenever to attempt to trade with her. It makes you feel like an inter-dimensional demon forced to bargain with Dr. Strange.

I was beginning to think they "buffed" England by replacing Victoria with Elizabeth I as leader.

But then I finally caught up on the whole thread. Sometimes work gets in the way of my lollygagging.

Nah, you're doing the right thing. I usually avoid it too, but spoke to my friend the other day and talked about dogs for a bit, 2 hours later I get an email from amazon with deals on pet food. I don't have a dog and have never shown any interest in pet supplies.

Unless you're using a private server you need to be talking as though everybody at any future date is listening, which is fine for some folks and some conversations, but things can get pretty complicated. -for example, if you've ever signed non-disclosure agreements, or have any proprietary information bouncing around your brain at all, it's a pretty stupid risk.
Try to explain that to them though and they think you're a paranoid loon, try to dance around any sensitive information in your head and they think you're annoyingly duplicitous or outright deceitful, ignore them and they think you're a jerk. :shake:

Best to just avoid it altogether.
