Spring Patch Info

+1 for England to have alt leader: Liz 1, Liz 2, Churchill, Alfred, Henry II, V, VIII, Oliver Cromwell (!) - plenty to choose from. Instead of the colonisation focus, perhaps an industrial focus? British Museum should work by automatically gaining an artefact every-time you take a foreign city....until it's full, interesting World Wonder me-thinks.

Henry Tudor would be great. But i think firaxis picks another woman (perhaps Mary Tudor). Churchill would also be acceptable for me.

Mary Tudor would be quite ridiculous. If looking for an alternative to the obvious English regnant queens, Queen Anne would make more sense. She was personally a non-entity, but at least presided over Marlborough's victories in the War of the Spanish Succession, and the consolidation of the post-1688 political order. But why would they pass up the more obvious Elizabeth I? Her reputation may be overblown and romanticised out of all proportion to her actual achievements as a monarch, but there are at least substantive accomplishments to list. One name missing from Flaxton's list (though, like Henry II, vanishingly unlikely), is Edward III, whose victories over the French and management of the nobility made him something of a model medieval king.

If its gonna be an anglo-saxon, why not Alfred the Great?

I might be a bit of an iconoclast, but I would choose someone else simply because Alfred the Great is the obvious (and perfect) choice. Why not King Cnut or William the Conqueror? I tend to like the deep pulls that don't get as much attention, but I would happily take Alfred the Great as well. Have you seen the Alfred the Great mod for Civ 6 in the steam workshop?

Re William the Bastard, Normans should be their own race, they invaded southern Italy and the Balkans as well as England. Aethelstan would be another contender, the first King of England.

The entire alt leader turned out to be a non-starter. How many do we have? One for Greece? I think the odds are fairly poor...

That would certainly be one in the eye for his detractors...

You're my kind of maniac.

Ah, good point. He might have been king of england in name but it wouldn't feel right, you're correct. Aethelstan is a fine choice. Or how about an insular, faith focused leader like Edward the Confessor? ;)

Richard lionheart... or do we have to be politically correct?

After the last patch and the removal of Curmudgeon and Flirtatious, do you REALLY have to ask that question? lol

Civ6 is a very sanitized and wishful-thinking view on history. ;)

How about King Edward Longshanks? Long reign. Notable accomplishments, but paradoxically portrayed as a villain as well. Sort of one of those "can't go wrong with the depiction" leaders. But imagine the controversy!

In that case I propose Cheddar Man - First Briton :D

Was there a rumor that at some point there would be an alt leader dlc or expansion? I know that was one of my greatest wishes from the get-go with the game, since they had two for Greece from the start, but also because I wasn't thrilled with some of the leaders they chose.

I didn't know how much Longshanks had done in the noteworthy to good categories until fairly recently. Kind of cool. Also, what about Henry the II? One of the more warlike and build-centric kings that would fit the bill, I think.

I'd play the hell out of that civ. Just think of the dlc potential when they discover Wensleydale and Stilton man!

We have Dschingis Kahn in there. And several others who killed, plundered & raped their way through history. So, if someone really argues that Lionheart wouldn't be "politically correct", I would laugh at him.
