Anyone know how to create a sref dds from paint.net or gimp? I created a bunch of units but don't have any sref files with any of them.

You only need the sref to the extent you have shiny stuff, I.e., metal. White for mirror-like, dark gray is a dull sheen. Everything else is black.

correct :)

Thanks for your responses. :thanx:

Does paint.net or gimp do this automatically?

i use pspX (corel now) but i think paint and/or gimp are similar....

the way i have found most easy to make an sref is to "save as" your "x".dds to "x"_sref.dds, merge all your layers, then add a layer on top.....flood fill that with black, make it semi transparent so you can see where your shiny parts are on the texture below.....erase those sections from the black layer (swords, shiny armour, buttons, etc....) and then make the black layer opaque, so only the shiny stuff is showing.....if you want extra shine, make the texture layer brighter......
