ssssssloooooooowwwww

When TF starts making guests register before viewing the board. ;)

I am leaving Who's Online on now. :D Turing it off doens't help much. so we may as well leave it on. At least this way people would know WHY the forum is slow, seeing all those big numbers. ;)

Agree? Disagree?

I agree TF. I just wonder if there's other things we can do, like turning off avatars, to help speed things up?

I wonder if disabling email notifications of PM's would help at all? I just received six emails for the same PM...

What about Thanksgiving?Any members...?:crazyeye:

Why does Christmas attract guests to CivFanatics?(this is my first Christmas at CFC).

Many people will probaly get civ IV for christmas and then look for some site about it. Thats how I came here, I got it in 2001 for christmas and then came looking for a site that had cheats for it.

You got civ IV 2001? :wow:

On topic, I don't think the site is so slow. Maybe I'm online at the wrong time. :hmm:
Edit: It took 1.89 seconds to generate this page with the reply.

I think you should do all you can to speed things up.
The release of Civilization IV, is the biggest opportunity for growth the Civfanatics site has had in years.
Screw this one up, you will have to wait for a hypothetical Civilization V for another opportunity.

As a matter of fact, I thought The site would be better prepared for the surge of users.

TURN EVERYTHING OFF. EVEN THE SMILIES

I have a way to speed the site up.

Old veterans pick up and leave to their own little forums... One little forum for the NESers... one for the OT politics crowded... one for the techies... etc.

:D

Hmm....maybe they give Thanksgiving Presents where you're from, but 'round here in these parts we generally give presents at Christmas....;)

I know they dont give presents in Thanksgiving, but i just wantd to know if all holidays brought guests to CFC.

Well, look at it this way. Holidays mean people have more time off. More time to do things, perhaps more time to play that new game that just came out. So they stroll over to a forum to find out about it.

But on Xmas, with people getting it as a gift, there will probably be more people flocking to the forums....

Though before Civ4, the record was on April...what was that all about?[c3c]?

That was when a lot of search spiders infested the forum...the previous record before that was during Christmas in 2001 I believe.

You mean spammers? I remember the record was exactly on April 14,2004 with about 1,426 members.
