Inherited turn: I really think universities are too expensive to build right now since we're at war. Swap Paris to cavalry, wasting 4 shields. Swap Lyons and Tours to muskets. Swap Amiens to library (this city will just take too long to build units). Swap Avignon to cannon. We want a settler for a foothold in Chinese territory -- I swap Chartres to it, since a fully corrupt city won't miss the population. Swap Cherbourg to granary. Swap Toulouse to marketplace. Swap Marseilles, Strasbourg, and Rheims to cavalry.
I don't understand why we bought Medicine so soon -- what did we need it for right away? This is the kind of move I did in TH5, to screw over the next player.
Our troops in Chinese territory are a bit too far inland. I really don't think this sort of extensive pillaging campaign is necessary, when we can just capture everything without that much more difficulty. If the Chinese had tons of rifles and didn't have to deal with many many turns of a crushing dogpile, then pillaging would have been great, but IMO it's overkill here.
1100 AD (1) We lose a musket to an attacking longbow. Paris cavalry -> cavalry. Lyons musket -> cavalry. Rouen bank -> cavalry. Bayonne library -> cavalry. Rush settler in Chartres for 116g. I sell Incense to Spain for 10gpt. We now have a treasury of 1g and are making +1gpt.

I pull back our troops in China towards our landing zone. Ack! Some of our units move automatically; please don't leave go-tos at the end of a turn without warning the next player.
1110 AD (2) Tours musket -> worker. Chartres settler -> courthouse. Brest cannon -> cannon. I decided to capture Ningpo, killing 3 muskets and taking it at a cost of 2 cavalry -> worker. It has a barracks and a harbor intact. I capture Xinjian, killing 3 muskets with no losses -> worker.

It also has a barracks and a harbor. I upgrade 1 caravel to a galleon for 20g. Five galleons of units sail forth from Chartres.
1120 AD (3) We hold off a single attacking rider without difficulty. Rheims cavalry -> bank. Tours worker -> musket. Cherbourg granary -> library. Our galleons dump 19 units on Chinese soil. I decide to take a risk and hole up in our captured Chinese cities -- we've got enough troops in there that the relative flip risk isn't that high. I have to drop our research rate to 50%, as our tech sales from 20 turns ago are now paid off to us in full.
1130 AD (4) The resistance in Xinjian and Ningpo ends (which will cut down flip risk a lot). Avignon cannon -> cathedral. I rush a worker in Xinjian. I found the city of New Orleans for our landing zone on the Chinese island -> temple. Our cavalry sally forth, and capture the city of Chinan without losses, killing 3 muskets -> worker. Sirian's changes are making cavalry conquests harder than usual, as I'm seeing quite a few cavalry retreat, as could be expected. However, our cavalry are still owning the Chinese muskets.
1140 AD (5) I renew the alliance with Arabia, straight-up. China lands a rider next to newly captured Chinan, but there is no other Chinese activity. Paris cavalry -> musket. Lyons musket -> worker. Marseilles cavalry -> worker. Xinjian worker -> worker. Besancon library -> worker. I rush a worker in Ningpo.
1150 AD (6) Orleans NEWTON'S UNIVERSITY [dance] -> cathedral. Lyons/Marseilles worker -> cathedral. Poitiers marketplace -> granary. Besancon worker -> cavalry. Dijon library -> cathedral. Bayonne cavalry -> cathedral. The resistance in Chinan ends. Ningpo worker -> settler. Attack on Tientsin: 1 cavalry lost; 1 elite victory; 1 promotion to elite; 2 muskets, 1 pike, and 1 longbow killed. Tientsin razed; I would keep it, but it's not in a good location (on top of wheat) if we rush a palace somewhere nearby. Move cavalry towards Canton. I rush a worker in Xinjian.
1160 AD (7) Strasbourg cavalry -> cathedral. Xinjian worker -> temple. I realize Canton is on a hill, and move more cavalry in. An elite cav kills a wandering pike for another elite victory.
1170 AD (8) Paris musket -> musket. Attack on Canton: 4 cavalry lost, 3 muskets killed. I decide to keep Canton. It comes with a barracks, marketplace, aqueduct, and harbor. Canton happens to be China's only native source of Saltpeter; too bad for China, and hey, we've got our own Saltpeter now.

I rush a worker in Chinan. I move 2 galleons south from Chartres.
1180 AD (9) China and Arabia sign peace. Tours musket -> musket. Ulaanbataar harbor -> courthouse. Chinan worker -> settler. I rush a worker in Ningpo. I advance cavalry towards Beijing; some of these are cavalry that just came off the ships that left Chartres last turn, I had to re-build roads to allow this.
1190 AD (10) India and China sign peace. Steam Power discovered. We have 2 sources of coal, both on our little island. The resistance in Canton ends. Rouen cavalry -> library. Toulouse riots.

It's just too big, there isn't any war weariness yet. Ningpo worker -> temple. Brest cannon -> cannon. The lead non-China AI's now have Nationalism. Attack on Beijing: 3 cavalry lost (and multiple retreats), 7 muskets killed, 1 elite victory, Beijing captured! And barely, I had to use the last available cavalry to do so. Beijing has a bank, along with the Pyramids and Sun Tzu's Art of War. [dance]

[dance] The capture of Beijing also gets us Silks. I move our stack of predominantly redlined cavalry in (a city can't flip right after being captured). Construction of rails commences.

I sell around Steam Power, which we have a monopoly on: it gets us WM + 213gpt + 17g from Russia, WM + 96gpt + 8g from Arabia, and 37gpt from India. I rush a worker in Canton.
Notes to the next player:
* Beijing will be a significant flip risk starting in AD 1210 -- don't leave a ton of troops there until it is more secure (the inherited turn is safe). The flip risk in the other Chinese cities I captured is minimal.
* All those cathedral builds are in place as war weariness will probably rear its head soon, but they can just be swapped over to military or act as factory prebuilds.
* I did not renew our military alliances -- now that we have China on the ropes, we could perhaps just let them expire and extort stuff from China in a peace treaty. However, not renewing the alliances may let China get Nationalism soon. This is up to the next player; I do think we should renew, because rifles are going to be a pain to deal with, as China still has many cities left.
* I have been rushing workers and settlers out of captured cities to reduce them to size 1 faster and just to get more workers, which we are short on -- this plan should be continued, I think.
* We'd really like a Great Leader so that we can rush a palace in Beijing.
* The next player has the option of researching Industialization at full blast (we can get it in 8 turns at 90% research), or saving up some cash to buy settlers and temples in our newly conquered Chinese lands. Nationalism is on the table, but we don't need it yet, so there's no reason to pay a ton of money for it yet; and in fact buying it now will make it cheaper for China to buy or research.
* A city should go 1 SE of where Tientsin was, once we have a settler with an escort.
* MANY of our units are currently fortified -- sorry Rubberjello if you find this a pain, I do this just as a habit. Most of the fortified units are in Canton, Beijing, Ningpo, and Chartres, and a couple in Xinjian.
