So i have given a face lift to sites but they are still on my storage

ok, Glorfinder. Just tell us the new link ;)

I'm working on a new version, main change will be the changes production cost for units and wonders, and maybe some buildings.
I already added the Andorians, and made some minor changes, but the production costs will need some more time :)

btw: Seems it will be necessary to add a 10th Planet to Sol system, eh? :cool:

Are there other items that need to be downloaded or transfered from the original to fill out the test game?
I keep running into files missing and the game exiting. I don't understand because the conquest scenarios only contain the changes in their subdirectories and rely on the original for everything else. I know ultimately everything will be changed, but I can't get past my first city improvement without exiting.

I took care of all the units. There are no problems with them so far. It is the buildings. I built the colonization program in 17 turns on my borg homeworld. the wondersplash came up with the observatory picture (whcih is fine cause we don't have pics yet) I closed the window and got an error message about a bulding pcx file missing.

Perhaps it could be another aspect of the game I went into. I know not to check the civilpedia cause that may crash. I know not to check the tech tree cause that will crash....

I'll play the game again and see if it duplicates the problem and get you some more specific info.
 
Just tried the game again. Got the same error message. Same situation as outlined in my post above. Here's the exact message.

Load Error
File Not Found
"art\civilopedia\icons\building\Building_small.pcx"
The game will now exit.

EDIT: I got past the above error by taking a standard game pic and renaming it building_small.pcx and building_large.pcx after seeing that all buildings in the pediaicons.txt point to those files.
I can now build buildings and the game keeps going....

New Problem:

Load Error

Missing Entry in "Scenarios\..\Scenarios\Star Trek\text\pediaicons.txt"
TECH_Transwarp Gates_Large
The game will now exit.

There is a Transwarp Conduits in the Large icons section is this supposed to be Transwarp Gates or is that a different tech altogether. Let me know how I need to change the pediaicons.txt so that I can keep finding out new problems.

Other noticed problems:
in diplomacy screen.
1) Investigate city takes the gold but doesn't let you see the other civ's city.
2) Build embassy takes the gold but doesn't place an embassy with other civ.

As far as only seeing the borg build units. I can believe it. techs with buildings for the borg are few and far between at the start. so all you can do for awhile is build units. I had about 30 ground units in my homeworld city alone simply because it took awhile to get a tech with buildings.

Is the colonization program the only way to get colonists?

1. I know the Transwarp Gates_Large Pedia problem, but I think I just fixed it in the not yet released version. To fix it:

Go to Pediaicons.txt, look for the line "#TECH_Celestial Temple_LARGE" and add after the next "Art\tech chooser\Icons\69-spaceflight-large.pcx" this:

#TECH_Transwarp Gates_LARGE
Art\tech chooser\Icons\69-spaceflight-large.pcx


2. Transwarp Conduits and Transwarp Gates are different techs. Transwarp Gates is an Borg-Only Technology that allows building of Transwarp Gates.

3. About the Espionage problems. I never came across this. Build Embassy and Investigate City works for me... Need to check that.

4. AI just building Units: Are you sure you got the latest version? That Problem occured in one of the versions, fixed that 2 days ago. To check it: If you got a colonist, 2 defence units and a london class (or probe if you are borg) at the beginning it's the right version, and there's something weird with your computer ;) , if not then you got the wrong version and need to download the newest one.
One tip: Don't build that much ground units, use wealth when you got nothing to do ;)

5. Yes, the Colonization Program is the only way to get Colonists
 
finally a new version :D

Changes this time:
- Production costs for units, some improvements, and Wonders increased
- minor changes to a few units and buildings
- minor changes to terrains
- Expanded Borg City list
- Changed Time Scale. The Game won't end 2600 anymore. It will end June 2392.

Added:
- Added Andorians (Replacing Epsilon Indi Star System)
- Added Minor Race Boni
- Added Archaeology Center (Wonder, buildable on former Iconian Planets. 2 free advances)

Minor Race Boni:
Andorians: Andorian Silk (Luxury Recource, just found on Andor)
Tellarites: Tellarite Trade Station (Wonder, +1 Trade on each Trade Producing Tile)
Vulcans: Vulcan Science Academy (Wonder, Doubles Science Output on Vulcan)

Both Wonders (Tellarite and Vulcan) can just be built if you Conquer Vulcan/Tellar or if the Planet joined you (Offer Membership, Espionage). If the Colony gets destroyed, you won't be able to build that Wonder, even if you found a new colony on that Planet!

I threw this single frame eight direction default flc together for the Borg probe. Just copy the sound files for the Borg Sphere into the "..\Star Trek\Art\Units\Probe" directory (or change the INI to point to the sound files in the sphere directory). There may also be a line in the pediaicons.txt that needs to be changed not sure on that though. Let me know what you guys think of the unit in game. Is the size good? Is the positioning good?

I'd like to get the size and positioning down before doing anything else. It's a pain to have to go back and redo everything for all the flcs.

And thank TheMorpheous for getting me the eight direction stills to begin with.

yeah, it does look like the sphere. I hadn't seen that site before nor do I remeber the Voyager episode it was to have been in. I just wanted to provide a different looking unit so there would be a little less confusion. If TheMorpheous or someone else who can do 3d animation, can get me the eight direction stills of the correct ship I can animate them. Till then a small sphere will have to do.

Using that site as a guide, I've given some order to the units I've made and some I'll try to work on.

Tacticle Cube (variant 1) (very rare ship) -- extra defensive armour -- considered finished

Cube (variant 1) -- no extra armour -- usable but needs work

Tacticle Cube (variant 2) -- smaller with extra defensive armour

Cube (variant 2) -- standard ship, no extra armour

Sphere (variant 1) -- smaller than Cube v2 -- playable version but too large

Sphere (variant 2) -- smaller than Sphere v1

Diamond (also queens ship) -- about size of Sphere v2

Scout -- very small cube

Those are units I have images for.
I will need help in getting the eight direction stills, for any other units that will be needed in game.
 
At the start of the Project I made Technology Icons from BotF, finally I finished the small ones, and changed the Pedia.

This time there is no change in the .biq file, so it will work with savegames :)

BTW: You can download the MOD now from our Homepage (see my signature) without need to download all units. still you need to copy the units from original civ and vadus terrain

From now on, you are able to play the Romulans (if you want ;) )
Second new feature: When you conquer the Homeworld of another Race, you will be able to build their ships. (This doesn't count for Borg) But you need to research "Foreign Technology" first.
I also added more recources, we got now 8 luxury recources (including Andor-only Silk 9) and 3 bonus recources.

Luxury goods:
Latinum
Romulan Ale *
Exotic Fruits
Tholian Silk *
Karemma Fleece *
Rigelian Chocolate *
Orion Spices *
Saurian Brandy *

Some of them (the ones with the *) require Alien Cultures Technology.

You will need to download more units for the Romulans, I tried to put them into the download, but the file was too huge (if you got the mod from our homepage all unit graphics are included)

here is the Units_32.pcx file and associated readme for the current version (0.6.0) of the StarTrek Mod. The pcx file is to be placed in the "..\Star Trek\Art\Units" folder the readme can go wherever you want it.

Don't forget to change the unit icons in the biq file.:)
