yes, I missed my forums the last months, but I'm back now ;)

I didn't change much on the 0.6.0 Version, only the "roumlan ground unit bug" and I didn't allowed the borg to have peace to the other races (with "substantial alliances" or how you call it in the english version ... )

so, whats planned next ? more playable races ? Did you have a kind of a roadmap ? I'm very interested in that mod. So when there are terrain graphic extensions needed (more cities, recources ...) I could make something of that.
 
Tzar had the idea to use Civ2-like unanimated placeholder units, instead of repeating the same look for different ships (like daedalus, constitution and constellation class). That will allow us to add more civs before all the unit graphics are completed.

But next on my list is to work on the recources, like I posted some time ago, the game causes erros when you open the Dilithium Civilopedia entry because of too much units requiring it. With increasing number of ships that problem will occur with Titanium, Duranium and Neutronium too, so I'm going to add more recources, and Dilithium gets split into 5 different qualities.
Additional I'm thinking about a few more buildings, escpecially to fill the gap at the beginning of the game (you know, the time when all that you can do is, build ground units ore wealth).
That are the main changes, one or two smaller ones may make it into the next version too.
 
Are the borg going to be able to build a Fleet Academy in the finished mod? Something just struck me as odd about the Borg having a Fleet Academy in all their bases.

I like the mod so far though, gives a different perspective to Civ play, as opposed to a lot of other mods which all seem to boil down to Civ 3 but with different pictures,
 
Apart from Race-specific buildings (and minor race buildings) the Borg are able to build all buildings too, including the fleet academy. I agree it's a bit weird, but if we make a total diffent tech tree for Borg, there won't be much different buildings, that would be boring, and instead the Borg could build masses of units. That wouldn't be good either...
Like all Mod, this one too has to work with Civ3 mechanics, so still Borg need food (do they eat? Have you ever seen a Borg eating something?) and entertainment (imagine a Borg clown :lol: )

The Borg do need to regenerate and receive nutritional supplement via the energy matrix when they are resting in their cove. Thus "food" is necessary. Instead of a Storgage Facility I think the Borg should use a (don't know what to call it) building that acts the same but is described as This building provides for the creation, distribution, and storgage of organic bio matter at the cellular level to all Borg Drones. or something like that.

Entertainment... Well humour is irrelevant, but if it means that I can assimilate you. I can learn to laugh.... :lol:

Yes, why not ? the Borg might build a "Cloning Alkoven" (is it the right word in english ? ... ) . Once the federation (was it TNG?) found baby-borgs ( :D ) on a cube. Maybe they were cloned ?
 
Heh, you are right Tzar, but we could replace every building with a borg version, Holotheatre, Laboratory, Medical Complex,...
So either we replace all, or none buildings. Maybe we can make an own tech tree for the Borg in the final version, but until then, they have to use the standard buildings. :scan:

Oh, and Vadus: It's Baby-Borg, not Borgs, there is no plural of Borg ;)
 
Would it be possible to instead of having the Borg building all the same buildings as everyone else, have them build a borg variation of it, even if you have to use artistic license and invent a few things. It would be a lot better than building things like Fleet Academy.

Its not like its ruining the game or anything though, so I guess its probably better to stick to more important tasks for the time being.
 
It is possible, by creating a second tech tree for the borg civ, and making a copy of every building (and renaming it to the borg version). But thats too much work atm, but possibly in a later version.
 
I was playing the borg and I think I had just completed the Xenobiology wonder in Grid 001 in 2316AD when I got the following error message:

ERROR READING FILE

Missing entry in "Scenarios\Star Trek\text\PediaIcons.txt":
WON_SPLASH_BLDG_Xenobiology Space Academ

The game will now exit
 
Ah, just a spelling error in Pediaicons file, replace your pediaicons.txt with the one I attached and load your savegame :)

Damn, your doing well, can't wait till I've downloaded it, if you want I'd love to help, and once I get my new server up I could host you at something like www.stcivmod.racgaming.com or maybe I'll get you a domain lol. I can also do tonnes of Civelopedia info for ST as I own all of TNG on DVD! :D I've also got the domain www.live-long-and-prosper.biz which I kinda gave up on lol :).

If you want, the diplomacy texts need a hand, I guess noone is working on those...or if you got graphics talent you may want to do some animations? ;)

Oh, and for sure, play the test version, and give some feedback, teh more play, the easier to find problems, or bad balancings
 
Well you can get Borg Ground Units Type 5 before you get Type 4. I think Type 4 is one of the first tech's in the final era, type 5 is one of the second but you don't need the type 4 tech.

I'd also makes the Borg sphere capable of more than one bombardment per turn. Although I guess that could pose problem when the computer goes unit happy and you have 100 Borg sphere bombarding you 3 times each in a turn.

It was just something that stuck in my head as being odd when I played it.

I just lost my game by accident. I started a war with the Federation and then the Minor Worlds because they had a mutual protection pack. Then I accidently clicked yes to holding UN elections...
 
Hehe, nice way to loose ;) Thanks for the Ground4/5 thing, I will take a look at that. About the Sphere, I think there was a reason why I gave them less bombardement, btu I will take a look at that too.
 
Oh, if you need any manual labour style work doing I can lend a hand. I'm not the biggest Star Trek fan and I can't draw at all, but if you need a lot of repetitious, uncreative work doing I'm more than happy to help.

I have a lot of free time and I'm looking to get some experience so I can one day try my own mod
 
Well there is one mistake I've found, you NX class is wrong, it should be Enterpise class, as its the first ship of that class, like with the Sovereign, thats the first of the Sovereign class ships. I'm good at layouts and splashes, but I don't do animations like that. Can I do unit descriptions for the civelopedia? As I am a trekie and know quite a lot about a lot of ships. Also if you want to use www.live-long-and-prosper.biz you can, just tell me and I'll sort you out with it, you'll have 5 mysql databases (so we can have a forum and gallery etc.), 500mbs space and 5gb bandwidth, I'll still be an admin (duh), but I'll give you full access.
