Star Trek mod - The Next Generation!

Good question... :) I tried to find a way to do just that, but so far I haven't found a way yet to do it.
But this mod is is still under serious construction. Once it is finished it is the intention to make a number of scenario's according to the different Trek series.

I really enjoy playing this mod. I have a few comments.

I can't seem to play any other civ except for the federation, when I try to, civ crashes. Movement rates on ships seems very low.

I've started to make anothe map for the mod, just kind of random, just another premade map to play on. I've got the star systems and the resources placed, but I can't seem to get any of civs to start with units...

I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, if anyone can tell me that would be great.

Anyways, excellent job on the mod keep it up!
 
Sorry, can't help you with the crashes... :( Perhaps you should reinstal CivIII and try again.
If you have a playable map, post it here I'll be happy to include it in the mod pack. Making a good map takes a looong time... :)
 
Hello everyone. I just registered to this site (Actually this is my first post). I have actually been working on a Dominion War senerio. I have all the in the Alpha and Beta quadrants planets with their respected owners ie: Federation, Dominion, romulan, Klingon, Breen, Ferengi, and Bajoran. I am currently working on individual tech Trees that start in the Next Generation and go through when Voyager returns in the late 2370's (Forgot the date off the top of my head and I feel stupid, I have the whole series). What my senerio is lacking are animations for the units. I have tried and tried to animate units but I guess some people are gifted and some aren't. what I have done instead is convert pictures and use them as units (Kinda like a Civ 2 senerio). I don't know when I'll be done with it, as I have school, work, and a wife (joke, I love her dearly). Just wanted to give all a heads up and be patient, I live in the boonies and only have dial up :cry: . But wanted to give mucho mucho hillibilly thanks to all the nice people who created Star Treck Mod .7 and .8. I will try to send individual thank yous but time is limited for me. Better get started and please be patient. I'm new to creating Mods and such and posting ect....
 
anything you can do will be great.

Well, it was the intention to make several scenario's such as the Romulan and Dominion war or a Borg invasion. Any help is welcome, so far only Mentat and myself are left working on it. If you'd like to help, there are plenty of things left to do... ;)

Don't underestimate the importance of your research, without it I wouldn't know what ships to make... :D Any news about the meshes? Otherwise I'll start the Borg after I finish the Feds and some other non-Trek units.

I don't like the designs of the Shelley and the Oberth, but I try to compensate by giving them a cool attack... ;)
 
I just posted 7 new Federation ships, some of which were still left open in this mod. You can easily replace the placeholders with these new units. As I mentioned I am giving every civ in my Dominion Wars Mod individual tech trees and techs. I have the eras divided into TNG, Pre-War, War, and Post-War eras. I am half way through the Federation's Tech Tree and need advice or opinions. Most of my Techs are technological advances, but I was wanting to do something different and add something like events in the tech tree that occurred in the Star Trek Universe. For example I have "Lessons of the 2nd borg Incursion" as a tech. Although some may argue with that not being a Tech, the Borg incursions were improtant events leading up to the Dominion War as several ships and other warlike advances were created followig the 1st and 2nd borg invasions (not to mentiiong the buttload of ships lost). I also have "dominion encounter" and "hostile alien encounters" as techs because during the TNG Starfleet was encountering a lot a hostile species and had to implement a lot of battle hardware on their ships for protection.
Oh and on a good not I have solved the Wormhole thing, about the Dominion having a huge amount of ships in the Gamma quadrant through the wormhole. making both the gamma and alpha quadrants is just too huge for a civ map. I have decided to place one and only one wormhole in the game by DS9. It is "mined" so to speak. The Dominion has to capture DS9 and research a very expensive Tech, called "Dominion Reinforcements". After researching this, the Tech give the Dominion forces wonders that can only be built in a city with a wormhole in its radius i.e. DS9. These wonders are cheap to build and gives the dominion a unit every turn representing the massive amounts of reinforcements coming through the wormhole. I think I will have a wonder per unit that the dominion has. This follows the storyline in the series because whoever controls DS9 controls the war. The Dominion needs two things and the Wormhole and the Tech and the federation has to prevent the fall (or at least Recapture DS9 early on in the game) or bye bye Federation and earth :( .
So what does everyone think? Need input please
 
Well, sounds like you have a bunch of good ideas there. But until I see the map I guess it is still a bit confusing. Another way to make a wormhole is by putting an invisible railroad through space with astroids on both sides and Bajoran cities covering both ends (a combination of your ideas and mine... :)).
As for new Fed units you asked, maybe at a later time. For now I have a whole large list of other ones to do as well (see my other thread), but I might squeeze in some of them when I get tired of Klingons and Borg... :D As you can imagine I want to finish this mod first before I start working on another one...
 
Ok, since you are continueing the ships of the other races, I will repost my unfinished list, since I changed quite some more ships, and added information about image resources.

Regarding the meshes from BOTF2, I get no news, they promised to release the ships, but have not done yet, .... Its seems that they are quite busy with the final tests. I will be persistent though, ...

Personally I didn't have any time to do more research on the ships (the most up to date list is in the file) but I kicked my own butt to continue now, and will do so.

Great work on the Fed ships, nothing mroe to say in this point!

Thanks for all the work you have put into it. The Klingon destroyer look really cool, would be great to add it. There is no hurry for those meshes, I'll be doing 7 Borg vessels when I get back from holiday. That should keep me busy for another couple of weeks... :)
 
great mod only problem is i can't seem to find any resources in either the star trek mod or the oringinal C3C game.

Umm, I honestly don't get what you mean by that. Could you clarify the question.
Are you talking about the resources as such, like grain, oil and so on?
Or are you talking about references?
Or data resources?

i think i helped him out there, he was looking for them, but had not reaserched the tech necessarry - it's always fun intoducing someone to the game haha, another monster created haha
