Star Wars Mod

Okay...last post post of the day...I promise. I made three different posts so if I messed up I would not have to rewrite the whole thing. I think I'm getting the hang of it now. What do you think of this as required before light or dark jedi are created?

Thanks for your ideas Grabnar. Whoever is doing buildings better be working hard, because I deleted all the vanilla buildings from the mod. Right now Palace is the only building available.

I'm working hard....But, I'm going to need some help, cuz I can reskin some of this stuff, but....I'm not great with 3dsmax or Blender...So, yeah. :P Deleting the buildings is a BAD idea right now. :P Until I figure this stuff out, or you find someone to create the buildings....Argh!!! :(
 
We dont need unit graphics. We can use the vanilla graphics. As long as you can actually come up with buildings, then we can use default graphics.
 
I'll help with placement as much as possible, but I did notice this in your screenshot, Shqype:

Artificial Intelligence is a prereq. for Droid Warfare, which is itself a prereq. for Entechment. I can't think of anything that would build off of Entechment, so maybe we could have it allow a power building of some sort, since the battle droids it gives would be Ssi-Ruuvi (if they're still included, that is)
 
Alright, I've been working on the UU's for the civs but I'm haveing a little trouble. I have been working on the XML for the units I have come up with. Here is the picture of what I have done. Sorry, the forum won't let me upload the .xls file.

senwiz, in my signature I have a link to "Clean XML." Download it.

Use the CIV4BuildingInfos.xml file in the Clean XML mod folder to add all the Star Wars buildings. I recommend keeping a copy of the vanilla file open for reference, so you know how to fill up certain tags, and so you have the default vanilla graphics available to give the buildings graphics.

For their technology requirement, make sure you have it specified as "NONE" but on a document (word, wordpad, notepad, whatever) write where each building should go on the tech tree that was posted in this thread. Then I'll take that and go in and use the correct tags to put the buildings in their proper places.

Civmansam, if you could send me the UnitInfos.xml file when you're done I can incorporate them into the tech tree.
 
I do have to say that's a nice UU layout;) I got a few suggestions:

The Dark Trooper didn't appear until after the Battle of Endor, IIRC. Perhaps it could be a ground UU for the Remnant while the stormtrooper is the Imperial ground UU in its place.

The Eclipse and Executor SSDs are not the same. The Executor, IMO is a better choice as a UU since the Eclipse models were pretty much superweapons.

I don't know a whole lot about the Ancient Old Republic, but the Interdictor cruiser wasn't produced until Palpatine had already come to power, and the A-wing fighter after that, sometime between the Battles of Hoth and Endor.

The E-wing would, IMO, be a better fit as NR space UU than the B-wing. It was, after all, the successor to the X-wing. Both Rebels and NR should have Bothan Spies as a ground UU. It would make things really interesting if you were to play with both. Perhaps a second Rebel ground UU could be the Snowspeeder.

The Ancient Old Republic could use the Dreadnought as one of its space UUs, and maybe the Z-95 as another. The Galactic Senate (Old Republic lol) could use the ARC-170 as one of its space UUs

Ehhh to make it simple, here's what I'm suggesting:

Ground UU1: Jedi Master
Ground UU2: Rocket Jumper
Space UU1: Dreadnought
Space UU2: Z-95 Headhunter

Galactic Senate
Ground UU1: Clone Trooper
Ground UU2: AT-TE
Space UU1: ARC-170
Space UU2: Acclamator Assault Ship

Galactic Empire
Ground UU1: Stormtrooper
Ground UU2: AT-AT (symbolizes the might of the Empire - the AT-IC could be an anti-starship weapon)
Space UU1: Executor-class Star Destroyer
Space UU2: TIE Interceptor

Imperial Remnant
Ground UU1: Dark Trooper
Ground UU2:
Space UU1: TIE Defender
Space UU2: Executor-class Star Destroyer (the Remnant used the same capital ship designs)

Rebel Alliance
Ground UU1: Bothan Spy
Ground UU2: Snowspeeder
Space UU1: X-wing
Space UU2: Mon Calamari Star Cruiser

New Republic
Ground UU1: Bothan Spy
Ground UU2: Jedi Master

That's all I can think of right now and like I said, that's pretty good work - especially the CIS, there isn't a recognizable unit they don't have except maybe the Battle Droids but the Droideka makes up for that;)

PS - I left out the Hapan Battle Dragon because I believe it could be used as a unit for a future edition of this that might include the Hapans. There are plenty of other units I can think of as well like that (Yevethan Thrustship, Ssi-Ruuvi Battle Droid, Killik Nest Ship for example)

I would like to point out that there are no lightsaber factorys. Each Jedi builds their own unique lightsaber.

Also, I downloaded the mod and have the lastest version of civ but I can't play it. I know its not finished but isn't it still playable?
 
At the moment, the mod is not compatible with patch 1.61. This will be solved in the next version of SW mod.

I completely agree with you about lightsaber factories. Jedi craft their weapons like samurai masters & NEVER would buy one off the shelf. It is just that there is a drought of unique buildings for the Star Wars universe. I'm thinking up some new ones though. I'll post them later :)

Ok, I do agree with the fact that the Remnant used the same warships as the Empire, but I do think they should have a separate ship. I couldn't find anything on the Mon Cal Defender, so I put the Cruiser into the New Republic. I also left the Hapan Battle Dragon there as an option. I do not personally believe the Hapan's had enough military to become their own civ. Also, I do not believe most people will recognize the E-wing, but they should be able to associate with the B-wing relatively easily.

New Republic:
Ground UU1: Noghri
Space UU1:Either E-wing or Stealth X.

Hutt
Ground UU1 - Bounty hunter
GroundUU2 -
Space UU1 - Smuggler
Smuggler could be similar to great merchant, but recieves less gold. and reduces gold of opponent if possible.
Space UU2 - Ugly
Uglies would be cheaper than z-95's and x-wings but have less strength

Yuuzhan vong
Ground UU1 - Voxyn (sp?)
Ground UU2 - Rakamat
Space UU1 - Coral SKipper
Space UU2 - Worldship
 
Unfortuanantly, we do not have a Hutt civ at the moment. Also, the Voxyn were only created t hunt Force-users (ie. Jedi). Thus, they would be useless against anything but Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights or whatever else we put in here like that. The Noghri were body guards, not many of them actually fought in battle. I still don't think many people will recognize the E-wing, but I know that the B-wing was one of the main craft used by the New Republic, second only to the XJ X-wing.
