Star Wars: Return of the Mod

OK, so despite my 'hectic schedule', i've been playing standard civ 3 (something i havent actually done in a while), and have come to the following conclusions:
1. Scenarios can;t depict battles. Stacks of doom depict battles. The only scenarios we can feasibly do involve the galactic map, like empire at war or rebellion/supremacy. the civ 3 engine just doesn't work with land / space battles.

2. Having only four civilzations is a bit limited. Therefore i suggest we add pirate cartel, smugglers, (both using rebel culture), and possibly chiss (imperial). The pirates and smugglers will have smaller craft but no major capital ships, and the chiss will just use a variation on the imperial unit set. I think 8 civs is really the minimum for a decent game, 4 is just far too limited. Also note how i did not suggest the yuuzhan vong - as they have a completey different unit/culture/technology set, although i have left a space for them in my graphics.

Other possible civs:

1. Pirate Cartel (think Zann)
2. Smugglers (led by hutts?)
3. Jedi Order/Sith
4. Chiss
5. Hapes Consortium
6. Mandalorian
7. Ssi ruuvi (could be cool, use the capture ability)
8. Bounty Hunter's Guild (possible work into other civs)
9. Infinite Empire (i think they're new)
10. Yuuzhan Vong
11. Killiks

Yeah, Stormy feel free to liven up this thread whenever, ;). Anyway, I agree with the YV idea, too much work. I like the space pirate idea, though. We could probably get away with using alot of already made generic sci fi stuff.
 
Question: In my Clone Wars Scenario, I have three civilizations, The Republic, the Confederacy and the Hutt Cartel (pirate group) What other Civ can anyone think of?
 
If you're going to make such a specific mod, maybe you could break up the two main factions a bit;
e.g. break the republic into correlian sector, wookies, senate, sullust, naboo etc. I'm no expert on the clone wars, but this way you could have a more varied approach to the clone war...
 
I watched all the Star Wars film's and was not piratically :mischief: impressed (I am into Frank Herbert's Dune series!), but as Star Wars: Return of the Mod is the only major Space Scenario project on CFC you can count on :goodjob: my support.

I'm no expert on Star Wars, but I agree with SheepMonster's "the more the merrier" approach!

I think, for 8 civs, you should have (to start with, at least), these civs:
1. The Galactic Empire
2. The Rebel Alliance
3. The Galactic Republic
4. The CIS
5. The Pirate Cartel/Hapes Consortium
6. The Smugglers
7. The Ssi-ruuvi Imperium (Could possibly use C'n'P'd Lizardmen, to start with?)
8. The Infinite Empire
 
As far as I know Flamand's scenario is not working very well. Also I find Star Trek even less :rolleyes: interesting then Star Wars.
 
Can anyone tell me how to use lasers in openFX? I can now do the death anims...
Oh, and for units, i'm working on the venator, providence, and ARC-170 for now.

@redwallfortress: you any good at unit building/leaderheads? Cos they're really our biggest need atm...
 
You can make a laser prop (a colored cylinder) Then just animate it moving.

Sorry:(, I don't know how to make those. I've only just only just :blush: began trying to make Mods and Scenarios.

Uh... the Providence and ARC-170 are already done, but the ARC is a bit glitchy. Can't wait for the Venator, :).

*huff* Well, i'm glad i was doing the venator first then... well, are the v-wing and eta-3 done?
edit: Aaargh! The v-wing's done too! Venator and jedi interceptor then. I want 3 to do, so i'll do the droid fighter too (a remake, the other was pretty bad)
editedit: i meant pleb's droid fighter, i only just found odins... damn and i had done half the attack too...

Ooh, laser prop might work better than what i'm using atm... the postpro thing just doesnt seem to work.
 
For postpros, you have to attach them to a dummy light with the light set to attenuate. Then just animate the light with the model.
 
Venator and Jedi Interceptor will tremendously help me out bunches. I have just finished placement of the "cities" on a new map (working on getting each planet's terrain to cannon), got finished with the Republic Tech tree, and just finished with the Republic's buildings and wonders. Those two units will all but complete the Republic for my Mod. Sheepmonster you are my hero.

Sheepy, feel free to redo the Droid Fighter, mine is pretty crappy. And the Eta-3 isn't done, and neither was the Venator. And if you want to redo the ARC, please do so. jobiwan's is a bit glitchy, :).
