Star Wars: Return of the Mod

That might be the problem, i'll have to reinstall conquests and see if running off CD allows the movie to work...

Also, i've been thinking, global warming won't play a huge part in our mod (galactic warming doesn't have the right ring) so i propose abolishing it entirely. And replacing it with 'Dark Side'.
So you can build Sith temples that increase your dark side, and obviously blowing up planets adds to your dark side too. Just a thought...

Nice perspective on the whole dark side/pollution/global warming thingie. It would work great if someone creates a scenario that pits Jedi against Sith. Imagine if every planet in the Galaxy was covered in dark side/pollution.

OK, further to my previosu thread, i have thought of these things which i believe should be incorporated:

1. The first era of the tech tree is unanimous for all races - standardised units, nothing special. e.g. "spaceship" and "infantry" - nothing exciting at all. The other eras are entirely civ-specific - stormtrooper armour and ion engines being developed by the empire would have no benefit to the rebellion.

2. In the first era, a standard set of buildings is also released - barracks, data library, starports, markets, turbolaser batteries, planetary shields... whatever. Then you get the choice to turn each planet to the dark side or light side - dark side temple allows you to build dark jedi, light side temple gives you light jedi, strong in attack/defense respectively. Once you've chosen your allegiance, you can develop more buildings, such as hospitals (affects growth rate) and luxury developing buildings for light side and slaveries and tax buildings for dark side...
Since it's easy to change allegiance but keep both sets of buildings, we use dark side buildings to produce pollution, and light side buildings reduce pollution (use negative values instead of tick box, as tick box reduces it to 1)... so obviously dark side buildings have to be better but can destroy your planets.

Ok, i note that once again a period of inactivity has occured...
For my full interface conversion, i need to know some things - e.g. resources.
Here is my suggested resource list:
Strategic: Plasteel (buildings), Durasteel (Mechs), Hypermatter (spaceships), Transparisteel (starfighters), Tibanna (defensive weapons), Plastoid/Cortosis (heavy infantry), and a couple more for building the death star.
Luxury: Glitterstim, Ryll, Droids, Alcohol/Wine, [Nova] Crystals, fine art, music,
Bonus: Moisture farm, bantha, blue milk.

Also, i am trying to get some decent background music, possibly from empire at war - awaiting reply from Frank Klepacki.

FYI, Interface is almost complete - multiplayer, rankview, palace view, city view and victory screens are all that are not currently changed. I'm currently putting together a biq of the mod, using a different tech tree and unit list, tho i am quite happy for you to change this if you feel it necessary later.

Yeah, it's been really quiet lately... anyway, those resources seem good, and I can't wait to see the interface, :). If we get through on the music, that'd be great, but if we can't, I have a very shrewd solution...

Ooh, i've just found the building list...

Thumbs up on the EaW music, and i've found an imperial march remix for the title screen (altho i'm still deciding whether or not the un mixed version works better). Also i've got some smaller sounds e.g. the first phrase from "imperial starfleet deployed" for era change and a few notes of the march for wonder built. Does anyone know if the diplosounds are used?

Also, if anyone is interested, i have a page of previews for my interface, here: http://uk.geocities.com/colin_monthly/index.htm
i apologise for it's shabbyness, i've never really done graphical editing before, but i hope it's good enough for y'all. Also i resized the pictures on the web page, right click and press view image to get the full.

Don't you think there might be a tad too much blue? Try to blend the colors better too...the design looks great though!

Too much blue?!? Impossible! Well, it's based on the Empire at War interface, and also the civilzation interface is normally all one colour anyway... Altho i think i've found a way to give people the option for either your world/player setup screen or mine...

edit: by the way, we need a decision on the spaceship - are we going to be building control of the senate, or will it be building a death star, or what?

You should build "Getting Leia to bed"...

Spaceship part 1: Dinner
Spaceship part 2: alcohol
Spaceship part 3: sturdy bed frame
Spaceship part 4: clubbing
Spaceship Part 5: Bouncy Mattress...

edit: by the way i hope nobody will be upset with me neglecting palaceview, city view, possibly spaceship and rankview until the mod is out?

Palace view? city view? I thought those didn`t work in mods?

Ah, well we've decided that this game is going to be less a mod and more a total conversion. It's possible, using a cracked exe, to copy the entire conquests folder, and play this mod as though it were another expansion, like ptw.

Me and my uncle got palace screens in the new AD

Ooh, we'd like to see them - less work for me is always good :)

even the "teleport" is virtually worthless(pending in depth testing)...you CANT add it to buildings at all

the cracked editor is (IMO) an example of how lazy the CivIII team was...and why we should all be anticipating SSS
