Star Wars: Return of the Mod

always asking, never giving...

have we finalised the tech tree yet? i wouldn't mind getting a copy to work it into the interface (arrows and whatever).
Also, do we need an airspeeder? i seem to have an almost complete unit here that i was working on before, and i dunno if i should other finishing it. (snowspeeder style airspeeder).

Oh, and i think it's imperative we finish this mod before those evil civ 4 ppl finish their star wars mod...

Why does that matter? I'm working on that, and I could still help with this. But, the Civ IV one is nowhere near completion, anyway.
 
Well, I have begun flirting with my mod files lately, but unfortunately I seem to have lost the biq in my hard drive crash. I could probably find a previous incarnation, though, so no worries. I've been resizing, fixing and otherwise adjusting many units. Just a thought, would you guys be interested in m-units, at least for the space units? So they could be like "squadrons", and it wouldn't look weird when you see them attack a capital ship.

Sheepy, an airspeeder would be absolutely fantastic! If I can help just ask me.
 
I could use m-units for both land and space units. Seeing a Squadron of ARC-170s take out a Sep cruiser would be awesome, bye bye Invisible Hand
 
Alright! I'm glad someone agrees. But I believe Jedi should stay single units. Also, for great leader units, I think we should do the same thing EFZI did; instead of having them form armies, we can have them upgrade to champions, which allows for hero units to fight, ala Clone Wars.
 
For the great leaders, how about giving them a choice? Either upgrade to 'champions' and fight, or build an army.
 
Here's a thought. If you are going to make a Jedi m-unit, make it have two jedi in it, a master and a padawan since Jedi Knights are always seen around the Galaxy in pairs (exception would be the Clone Wars where more Jedi lost their lives and padawans were placed in more commanding roles as thier masters went off on other tasks)
 
hmm... we should probably worry about getting the basic mod out first before putting in m-units...

and odin, tech tree wise; possibly have first era an era of expansion, where the civs develop basic space travel, then make the next 3 eras civ specific - because the rebels won't be much interested in gravity well generators and the such...
oooooooor - make each era have 5 rows - one for planetary infrastructure/economy, one for planetary defense [shields, aa guns and troopers], one for ship development [ion cannons, turbolasers etc], one for planetary assault [tanks and walkers] and one civ specific one [e.g. droid development for seperatists]...
 
Have the first era be just expansion type things, like you said, then have a central 'branch' of tech; major things. Then have smaller 'branches' going off it, with more minor advancements. XJ-Wings, or "Improved Engines," for example.
 
Aight. Sounds good, I'll do just that with the tech tree. Although it's probably not going to be a linear tech tree, it might be a little crazy, but my tech trees always work out right. While I'm working on the tech tree, can someone work on the building list? We have a few wonders that Lord Malebeth made, and a Detention Center by NavyDawg. I might as well get started on the m-units now, (I just like graphics work, and it has to get done eventually.)

I'll PM Chris85 to see if he still has the biq with all the rules. I can start working off of that...
 
I made a TIE fighter m-unit squadron sometime ago...

May need to be dug up though. Either in this thread, the thread before, or somewhere else.
 
Oh no! Two days without post! the thread is dying again! Anyone know CPR?
 
^haha, I just randomly decided to go back to unit animation....I grabbed a AA-9 Freighter and wallah, I actually finished it. I don't know know if it's needed, but I'll post in soon enough!


EDIT: Does anyone have a sound for shields being activated?
 
I posted the new unit, I don't know if it was needed, but I figured what can I lose...
 
Here is a Preview of the Unit I was talking about. It is the Default/Run animation followed by the Fidget. I am rendering the attack right now, when that's done, I'll post a preview as well.
