Star Wars: Return of the Mod

Glad you like it. The attackA should be done mid-afternoon tomorrow, and the attackB should follow and be done before the day is over. The only part I'm struggling on is its death. I am currently learning how to use flames and smoke in poser so that may take a while....

Wow! It's a bit big (I can fix that later if you've done a great majority of the rendering easily) but otherwise it looks fantastic! For the explosions, visit the bottom of this page and there is an explosion effect there. NavyDawg uses it on his units. Also, if possible, can you add a red spotlight to reflect on the speeder when it shoots lasers? It's a nice effect, :).

haha, funny cuz NavyDawg showed me just that which is what I'm trying to learn. As for the size, once you resize it there will be some loss of quality. Just tell me a model to look at so I can determine the needed size. As for the spotlight, my knowledge is very limited with poser, but I have an idea of what your talking about. I'll give it a try.

Uh, just decrease the size around 10%.

The spotlight should be easy. In the top left corner there is a little ball that shows all the lights. Just click the little sun picture that say "add light" and position it so that it faces the ship.

Just have it at 0% at every frame until the attack. Keyframe the frame right before the attack and have intensity at 0%. Then in the next frame have it at 100%, then decrease the intensity every frame that the laser moves away.

Oh, and don't forget to parent it to the rotate ball.

Before I start, I want to make sure I got the right size:

EDIT: WOW, I'm not going to use Jpeg previews anymore....

You people are all still hanging around here!? We need to get this thing done. :crazyeye:

I did get a new computer and I'm learning how to use Blender and Bryce so that might help but don't expect any miracles.

BTW, nice airspeeder! :)

EDIT: Quote from Chris's last post in this thread back in January.
Chris comes crawling back after several months....

You people are all still hanging around here!? :ack:
I guess some things never change.
Ok I really need to go to sleep now...

When I create the light, I have no clue where it is. It shines at the whole ship and I don't know how to move it because, well, I don't know its location...so help!!

I understand that, but I have no way to centralize the light. When I dim it, the light dims therefore dimming the light shed on the whole snowspeeder. I want to center the light on the guns. It seems like the like is fixed in the center of the scene and can only rotate.

EDIT: I found my problem, I had to zoom out about 400% to finally the light source.

Ok, I finished the animating, now only the rendering is left. It'll take about 45 per direction of 30 frames times 8 so about 360 minutes or 6 hours...then it's off to attackB which should take no more than 10 minutes to animate being a simple attack.

Well it turns out that when I rendered the animations, the light appeared on some shadows...so back to square one... :wow: :wallbash: :wallbash: :trouble:

Well, since my airspeeder project has been completely conquered by Polyphemus, I suppose either i go back to my endless stream of "useful" ideas, or actually do some work myself...

... and as such, i've redrawn half the interface in the style of the empire at war interface, and i'll finish it probably within two weeks. So let no-one DARE to steal this project from me...

Also, how easy is it to make animated leaderheads? And [temporary lapse of knowledge] was Grevious more or less in command than Tyrannus of the seperatists? Or should we just use Sidious?

I would say Tyrannus or Grevious, but which one, I don't know. I think that Grevious was more of a 'front line' commander, but I don't really know.

Sorry about the speeder thing. You could still post it as an alternative or something, :). The separatist leader is Dooku, Sidious wasn't really interested in their cause. Grevious was only leader for like, 2 days during Episode 3 (plus he'd be a b---h to animate) so he's not going to be a realistic choice for a leader (although a Grevious unit would be great for a survivors champion.) As for the interface, that is righteous! But poly and I already did the setup screen, so no need to worry about that one.

Ok, here is the final preview!!! Now I just need help on the palettes, I can never seem to get those right....

SNOWspeederPreview.gif

The Animations are: Default/Run>figdet/fortify>AttackA>AttackB>Death

which leads me to ask for help on the palette. I tried creating the palette, but every time I get the transparency all screwed up. If someone could help that would be great!! This unit needs to be done by 6/23/07 or it won't be done at all. 6/24 I will pack and spend time with family and 6/25 I leave to Colorado Springs therefore never allowing me to complete it. I'm getting desperate here....
