Star Wars: The Mod - Unit requests

Oh. My. God..... That cruiser is so awesome!!!! I can't wait for you to finish that bad boy.
@polyphemus- just make the engines rev up or something.
Thanks, I'm probably gonna hold on that one for a while and do the smaller one first. Since to animate all the guns on the big one would be a pain. For both of them I need to get educated on what they do. Like the JSF, has flaps/wings. When/why do they move? etc... btw: I believe you have this unit listed as a Jedi Interceptor or something like that.
The same with the Republic Cruiser... it has ships it carries. What type... Are the 8 visible gun turrets the total of the guns? and so on... but no rush as I am going to do some stuff for the SOE team, maybe a public historical unit and likely the Deathglider before I get these done. The deathglider will be easy.

is slaveI about the right size?

has anyone picke dup the yoda file i posted a page back?

Nope, sorry, missed that one.

no, it is huge. It was a tiny single person vehicle. The center that you have as black is actually glass. Visually it looked considerably smaller then a jet fighter in the movies. The stats* here have it as a average sized fighter, which seems large.
So I would say it should be around the same size or smaller then the Firaxis F-15.

---info for civilopedia---
Slave 1

Full name: Modified Kuat Systems Engineering Firespray-class Patrol and Attack Ship

Size: 21,5 meters long, with a wingspan of 21.3 meters

Speed: 70 MGLT in space / 1000 kilometers per hour in atmosphere

Hyperdrive: class 1 hyperdrive

Weapons: 2 twin-mounded rotating blaster cannons / 1 concussion missile launcher / 1 tractor beam projector / 2 proton torpedo launchers

Shields: unknown limited deflector shields / contact ray hull / hull

The Slave 1 is a very old Kuat ship, and everyone considered it a piece of junk. Except Boba Fett. The bounty hunter bought the ship and modified everything he could, especially its weapons. He also used illegal jamming systems to approach planets undetected. The Slave 1 had powerful homing beacons and trackers located on proton torpedo’s, so Fett was able to track a ship’s course even in hyperspace.

The ship’s modified parts took two-thirds of it. As a result, there was very little room on the Slave 1. Only Fett’s living quarters, an equipment locker and six cells were stationed on the ship.

After Fett’s apparent dead in Sarlacc, the Alliance captured the Slave 1 and held it on the planet Grakouine. Fett temporately used the Slave 2, but in a pursuit with Han Solo, Fett was able to recapture his original ship. Fett avoided the planet’s defenses quite easily and escaped into hyperspace.

some one needs to pick up the yoda zip a page back to finish it. I completed everything but the attack is off center. I need someone else to recenter the files since i cant spend all my time working on it and less time finishing all my units before aug29

@bjornlo: thanks for the info

And while your figuring out all that stuff I got plenty of suggestions to keep you busy. :p ;)

@polyphemus: IN clone wars theres one fighter in the beggining that looked like the one B has.

Well, there are two ships that go under the name 'Jedi Starfighter.'

The one bjornlo appears to be making is the one from Episode II (though it may also have been seen in III). Its the one with a ring aroung it to go into hyperspace. It'd be cool to have that in the game, with the ring being a transport unit that can carry a single fighter through hyperspace for the galactic republic.

Here's a website w/loads of pics of this unit:
http://images.google.com/imgres?img...=Jedi+Starfighter&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8

The other Jedi Starfighter is the one seen in Episode III (and the Cartoon Clone Wars). Here's a pic of it:
http://images.google.com/imgres?img...=Jedi+Starfighter&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8

Perhaps, for the sake of accuracy and simplicity, the Jedi Starfighter from Episode II (and its ring, should it be made) be upgraded to the Jedi Starfighter from Episode III when the sufficient technology has been researched (perhaps something like "Starfighter Onboard Hyperdrive").

As per Bjornlo's pic of the Jedi Starfighter (from episode III it appears) since when does the Jedi Starfighter have TIE Advanced-esque wings? Also, the image listed as a republic cruiser is actually a Star Destroyer (the repulbic cruiser is that reddish thingy that brought Qui-gon and Obi-Wan to the Droid Control ship and was destroyed immediatly afterwards in Episode I).

The Star Destroyer is of Venator-class (though it has been referred to sometimes as the Republic Attack Cruiser- maybe this is where the confusion was) and combined with its fighters, its powerful engines, strong deflector shields and armament consisting of 8 heavy turbolaser turrets, 2 medium dual turbolaser cannons, 52 point-defense laser cannons, and 4 heavy proton torpedo tubes made it one of the most powerful and fearsome warships of its time. Its production was ceased with the rise of the Galactic Empire in favor of the larger, more powerful, and much more expensive Imperial/Imperator-Class Star Destroyers. Standard fighter complement was 192 V-Wing starfighters, 192 Eta-2 Actis Interceptors, and 36 ARC-170 starfighters. 40 LAAT/i gunships and 24 AT-TE walkers were carried for ground operations.

The interesting thing about this SD is that it could navigate in the atmosphere, dock in cities, and even make ocean surface landings- something that many later Imperial SDs were incapable of.

Well, Bjornlo is making the Jedi Interceptor from Episode 3. The Jedi Star fighter will be upgraded to this in era 3, (at least, that's how I plan to have it.) The sith will have the Sith Interceptor (Maul's ship) and Sun Crusher as their replacement.
@SWC- The designs of the Sith and Jedi Interceptor were used to make the TIE. In the pic you posted, I think the Interceptor had its S-foils locked? I've never seen it like that before.

hmm. interesting. yeah, the sith interceptor was definitely the basis for the tie, but where could the s-foils have been locked in the Jedi Starfighter? Oh well- im not making the unit, why argue? Anyway, i've been looking into some ships that could pass for YV ones (seeing as there aren't any pics or precise descriptions to go on) and ill post what might be some kind of YV cruiser or something if i can model it right.

Wow, everything is going so fast now! :wow:

The Jedi Starfighter (Delta-7 Aethersprite Fighter) is the one from Episode II, Bjornlo is making the Jedi Interceptor (Eta-2 Actis Interceptor) which is an upgrade of the Jedi Starfighter. That idea of using a hyperdrive ring as a transport sounds pretty good. The Republic Attack Cruiser is another name for the Acclamator-class Assault Ship.

@Bjornlo - That Republic cruiser you are going to make is called a "Venator-class Star Destroyer" which is the precursor to the Imperial-class SD.

Venator-class Star Destroyer
Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards
Dimensions: Length = 1,137m ; Wingspan = 548m ; Height = 268m
Crew: 7,400
Armament: 8 Heavy Turbolaser Turrets, 2 Medium Dual Laser Cannons, 52 Point-defense Laser Cannons, 4 Proton Torpedo Tubes, 6 Tractor Beam Projectors.
Complement: 192 V-Wings, 192 Jedi Interceptors, 36 ARC-170s, 24 Walkers, 40 LAAT/i Gunships

Looks like SWC beat me to some of that information

The reason the Jedi Interceptor has wings/radiator panels that fold up and down is to disperse heat and help cool the ship as the ship is very compact and uses a lot energy which made it succeptable to overheating. The panels fold out when the ship goes into battle to attack. The wings look like a TIE because the republic fighters were transitioning into the TIEs.

@Poly - I'll pick up the Yoda since I'm going to do some SW:GB units after I'm done with the B-Wing anyway.

wow, chris- i thought i knew all there was to star wars. i am truly put to shame by your SW knowledge.

@Chris: Thanks :Thanks:
