Stargate BtS

:stupid:
1.i am not saying add every single gou'old, just the biggest and most important.
2.religion is important in the game becuase it adds culture and gives another element to diplomacy. it dosnt do anything else. so rather than giving the replicators a religion i am saying disable relegion for them and make up for it with simple addition to thier civilization. like cheap units.
3. my early idea was to give ra a single city and but a earth unit out side of it far from earth at the very start of the game. and go in and raze it to represent Ra getting destroy, and tahnks to the you declare war on my friend and the gou'old kingdoms(all 6 or 7) with not like earth like it was in the show. you are not control o'neill this is just a way to set up bad relations in a interesting way with the gou'old.

1)

You are who had not understood.

I have not speaken of ALL Goauld leaders, this is pretentious as they are a species, they are said in the show to be countless and most of their Lords name are unknown to the ancient myth itself...

I have said that having multiple Goauld civs is pointless, useless and dangerous.

Why we should have 6 or 7 Goauld civs IF they actually have to act as one (as in the show) in front of the treath of Tauri, Tokra, Asgard and Rebels?

Where is the point on making them plural in such a situation?

It just weights the Civs count on the map without any usefulness.

It is a good idea for a modmod, a scenario in which the Goauld have not enemies yet (like some years before SG Program) and still fight much each others as in show.

In such a scenario you could choose betwenn even more of them, having way more famous Goauld to choose from, isn' it the worth to have it in a scenario?

It would give justice to the mighty and greatness of the System.

You could play only this if you prefere, but there is no point on make the civs count heavy with no usefulness in the main mod, considering the plot.

2)

No, religion also give happiness to each city in which it is present, more with its temples. Thats prevents unhappiness->rebellion.

And first of all it allows for the production of religious units, who can spread on religion throgout everywhere and convert all other civs cities, allowing to Religious Victory.

Have you ever played Civ 4? lol only culture and diplo...

To give all civs possibility to has a religion BUT one it is a huge unbalancing...

And as a side note, replicators units are everything but "weak".

Even asgard weapons are useless to them, goaulds in person flee, and tauri bullets have only temporary effects... they auto-repair instantly... just Ancient technology allowed to have a effective weaponry...

So the idea of weak units is very far from SG theme...

3)

The idea of tauri units on Abydos was good, I told it the previous post... as long they are military and not stock "starting" ones...

and btw you did not understood any of my joke about a game in which you control oneill as a fps, carter & jackson as a puzzle and hammond as strategy to explain that we cannot port all of the series in a single game...

...we have to make sacrifices and cut, semplify and adapt... for every specific subject, we can have plenty of Scenarios... they exists for a reason...

Great news Dataskywalker!

@cripp7
Thank you. The sooner we can get this mod off the ground, the better.

I just got a message from stolenrays, he said he might be able to help with units in a couple weeks. That's my best lead so far in that sector of the mod.

Are we still having the 'Progress' religion in the mod? I've found a very nice pic of Jackson's hat to use as a symbol. I also want to go ahead and add the 'Sci-fi' religion with either the Sci-fi Channel logo or the 'X' from the Wormhole X-treme logo

@4lexander
you are dense. Moderator Action: Every form of insult is not allowed in these forums.
1> BALANCE out the replicators with other advantages. other than religion
2> a single replictor isnt that hard to kill, there ability to multiply and overwhelm and is their streagth one. a sinlge shot killed ONE replictor it is when there is 500+ and thier multiplying is what so hard to kill.
3> on numerous occasion one gou'old would work with the SGC for thier own benefit, like getting rid of a arch enemy.

1 - 2

Replicators do not only have numbers... you haven't watch the show at all. They never die.

Once shooted, they yes go into pieces, but the pieces - it is called nanotechnology - reassemble together and return alive as well.

They are like zombies, you can shoot on them down for a while, but they will stand up the very next moment... you can only earn time enough to escape.

As in the episode with dying Thor, the SG1 only managed to take time enough to activate the SG and go away with Thor in a medic capsule...

And so on, Replicators are all but weak. In fact, they are actually the most strong, not simply species, but plague of SG universe.

They're worst than Goauld and all others...

So, make them weak it is like worth do not make them at all...

3)

In fact they joined forces to stop the Replicators activating the Ancient weapon on Dakara...

I saw no other occasions in show.

So do not annoy with such... for simplicity we have to make Goauld one civ, Tauri one etc.

You say: multiple goaulds lords competing... even the TAURI are many nations, competing as well, and much more worst, in the show: remember the strange relationship between SGC and Russia Military, now they coop, now they compete.

But when time on needs come, all of them join against common enemy.

As long as the Goauld System Lords.

So, if you say have 7 different Goauld civs is likely to have 7 Tauri Nations different civs as well.

It is self-evident we do not go far, just for map limits, there would be no space for Asgard, Tokra, Free Jaffas, Replicators, Aschen, Ori etc... and the recreation of SG universe go into garbage.

For simplicity we NEED to make Goauld 1 civ - they are in fact - Tauri another one, Asgard etc.

If you just cannot wait to play Baal VS Apophis you cannot screw all project up.

We'll have scenarios, as author said, and then you can propose such a internal goauld one.

But main mod is intended to recreate SG universe with most species techs etc possible.

If we make 14 civs only between Goauld and Tauri there will be no possibility to add most of SG species other than Goauld and humans...

Time out!

I own all seasons of SG-1 and Atlantis, so I really know what I'm talking about

You're both right. Replicators depend on numbers and individual strength. Only Tauri weapons and ARGs are any good against replicators. When a replicator is shot by, say, a shotgun, there is still some energy within the replicator blocks. If there is enough energy shared between the blocks they will try to rebuild. A few more shots is enough to destroy the replicator and render the blocks inert for good.

Besides that, I'd like some confirmation on my last post:Are we agreed on the religions?

Thanks a lot data.

Cease fire.

And Yes, we are agree with religions. At least I am.

Progress and Sci-fi are both good (well, progress was mine so I cannot say anything else).

I have a question: if Sci-fi has the "X" as symbol (excellent idea) could Progress have an alternative icon other than Jackson hut?

When ideating Progress, I thought of some symbol indicating ideas like "tomorrow" and "hope" rise a rising sun... it could be a better idea?

Maybe Jackson hut could be the icon for some similar/correlated Form of Government (e.g. Free Research for Science, Explorers philosophy for Diplo)

Excellent news about the new guys at work!

Best wishes

I have two ideas for the icon for Progress: an Asgard stone, the ones they use on their control panels -or- an Ancient drone weapon, since they are arguably the most advanced weapon in the Stargate universe, only to be matched by Asgard beam weapons. Make your pick, or suggest another.

I'd like the Rising Sun... it is a symbol of progress by historical data...

Btw you can argue it is better to find SG fiction symbols, so long the possibilities for such religion are infinite...

What do you think of my Form of government proposals? I think it should be a great way to recreate SG universe as long as stock ones are good for earth only, and most are outdated...

Nothing.

I said it is historical (other than suggestive) but I already said it is nothing related to SG, and maybe it would be better something that is, but I think it is a good idea tough so I proposed. ;)

It was a matter of personal taste.

Well, since no one is arguing otherwise, I'm going with the Asgard stone. And I think instead of progress, I'm going to call it 'Technology' (or something like that), since that seems to be the current focus of the religion. 'Exploration will eventually become a civic somewhere.

Now that we have the religions fixed, It's time to start thinking about what clips to use as part of the founding movies. Anything from SG-1, Atlantis and the movies (including the original) is open for suggestion. Something in unversal taste, please. ;)

Can you have the possibility to use clips from series? That would be great.

Or do you mean generic clips with models of SG?

I did not understand...
