StarNES Part I: Rise of Galactic Empires

das said:
WOW, Erik. That's some serious bit of work (adds Alaska and Sonora to future Japanese colonial empire in America).
(adds pages for das's systems)
Can you give me descriptions for your systems?
das said:
Maybe you can make a flash version with descriptions appearing in the main window?
Flash? No thanks. No frills here. Pop-ups, maybe. But I want this kept simple enough to be accessable anywhere, without needing any sort of plugin. (read: school computers with high security)

Yay! First post on this page!

Everybody, send me your systems, so I can add them! No real length limit, since it's a web page. Ten paragraphs are fine. Just not a novel.

EDIT: Oh, and since some people don't want their systems named and made public, I propose this...
Who wants it?

Wait a little while, and I'll get them! :p

Seriously though, do you put limits on the size of system descriptions?

Orders:

- Start 4 VPPs to settle the four planets I have colonised
- Send my 5 scouts along the lines indicated to i) find if there is life on each planet and ii) if not, to claim them, iii) if there is life, make contact (I am Diplomatic)
- Make contact with the as yet nameless aliens, try to find out which systems they claim, how technologically advanced they are in comparison to us, what they're like i.e. government, culture, outlook towards us, we were told they were friendly (please make them interseting so I can gte stories).

(Did my credits last turn go to subsidizing industries / to pgrading my homeworld?)

Espirito said:
- 2 credits should go into subsidizing key industries, especially those concerned with luxury products to give our people a better quality of life. (Hopefully this will either make them happier or increase the economy or both )

- 3 credits should go towards upgrading our homeworld to (Ultraindustrialised?)

- If so, I have none left. If they didn't. Please do the subsidisation thing, and if I have the money, the upgrading thing.

- Also, for the front page, my background can be found http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=2447150&postcount=104

- Our Scouts can now be named Rahien An A'vron (Watchers of the Dawn)

OOC: Do we need to explore the planets we claim to find any resources etc. will they be randomly found during our occupation or automatically once settled or what?

(really there should be ' in the names but i've put them in afterwards to show how its done. i will post backgrounds for them all soon once i see how it works :)) is that formatted OK?

I am also creating a language, which will then spawn a pdigen language as we meet other civs.

Spoiler grammar for language (Under Construction) :

Brief Intro:
This language is used in every day communication by the Atha'an worldwide, it was developed a few centuries ago to allow not only easier communication but to create a language which could accomodate modern terms better than the previous languages and was immediately accepted since it was easier to learn

To name something, apostrophes are used to signify this i.e.

Em'ahi'yen comes from Emoa (waters) Ahiaso (of the mountains) and En (planet)

Since this is an inflected language, the process is complicated depending upon the case, I shall explain below later.

Nouns:
Nouns fall into several declensions and their endings change depending upon this (list goes, Nomanitive, Vocative, Accusative, Genetive, Dative, in Sing / Plural):

First Declension (ends in 'o')
Emo / Emoa
Emole / Emoale
Emol / Emal
Emor / Emoar
Emine / Eman

Second Declension (ends in 'i')
Meni / Menia or Menya
Menile / Meniale or Menyale
Menis / Menas
Men / Mean
Menine / Menan

Third Declension (ends in 'consonant then s')
Ils / Ilsa
Ilse / Ilsae
Ilsu / Ilsau
Ilso / Ilsao
Ilsine / Ilsan

Fourth Declension (ends in 'vowel then s')
Ahis / Ahias
Ahisile / Ahaile
Ahisu / Ahaisu
Ahiso / Ahaiso
Ahine / Ahan

Fifth Declension (ends in 'consonant')
En / Ena
Ene / Enale
Enu / Enau
Enor / Enoar
Ene / Enan

Sixth Declension (ends in 'e')
Care / Carea
Caril / Carail
Cares / Careas
Car / Cara
Carne / Carnea

Spoiler dictionary for language (under construction) :

Nouns:
Word (Declension) - Meaning

Ahis (4) - Mountain
Ani (2) - Eon
Care (6) - Heat
Emo (1) - Water
En (5) - Planet
Ils (3) - Island
Meni (2) - One

Righto, Galactipedia now has a bunch more stars in it.

Espirito, I can answer. Your homeworld has been industrialized. You can see it by the thicker coloring.
Thanks for the links. Links tend not to handle apostrophes (and I hate apostrophic languages, but that's another matter) so those will be fine. Pages are up now, except Car'en which you misspelled and I couldn't guess which one you meant.

NK, I_P, where are yours?

Systems:

Valen (SW from Elia) - a moderately good system with one habitable planet.

Paren (S from Elia) - a rundown hellhole with no practical use whatsoever for now.

Oros (SE from Elia) - a rather good system with three habitable planets and semisentient (think chimpanzees) life on one of those.

Zakra (NE from Elia) - a moderately good system one habitable planet occupied by a race of sentient insects.

Don't forget to mention that our homeworld, Aron (in Elia) is radioactive. We're proud of that fact. Also don't forget that we nuked a subspecies back into stone age in the middle of a highly radioactive (even for us) desert. We're proud of that, too. ;)

Erik: Oh yeah I noticed now :)

It is Car'yen not Car'len, trying to decide which consonant comes after the apostrophe is what made it different :) also, I like apostrophetic languages so thats why mine is heavily reliant on them :) Now to go see what it looks like

Edit: I can find the pages, but clicking on the map I still only get bad1249,203 etc. Is it just me or does it work OK for everyone else?

Alright, Galactipedia updated again, with das's worlds, and I removed the coordinate-showing thing that gave bad links if you clicked on an unlinked area. You can get your coordinates in Paint from now on.

Have fun with it!

A Stufy into the Tau worlds -Introduction

The Tau Homeworld of Ta'u is the seat of power within the fledgiling space federation. From here the worlds are brought into the federation. Colonised through the Tau's natural want for living space. Those few races who are intellgient and within the Empire are given full equality. They too work together for the Greater Good of Tau society.

More to follow tommorrow.

I know something you dont want me to know Toteone. Attack if you like, you wont find me an easy target as I know you are coming.

Know something I don't want you to know?
Meh, feel empowered.

We need an update.

I happen to agree.

Btw, Sheep, if you think he plans to attack you, why tell him that you think he will attack you? That allows him, in case he planned to attack you, to realize that surprise effect is unattainable and thus will lead him to probably attack you in a more cunning way while your forces prepare for a "strategically unexpected" defense.

Maybe he's buying time?

Or maybe I am telling him if he attacks for the reason he is attacking he is not playing in the spirit of the game. That goes for Erik too.

What reason is he attacking you for and why is it not in the spirit of the game? If its Rise of Galactic Empires, to do the rising most will probably have to attack their neighbors for the first reason that pops into their head.

Militaristic Empire

Tau Federation - wussiest warhammer race ever

------

Erik & Me stopped diplomaticising once we found out we were not in contact.
I'm afraid I expressed a minor amount of in-game (not personal) cross-genre enmity grudge to Erik while laying out-of-game plans (not good RPG'ing but we stopped at least!) and he went straight to the enemy headquarters it seemed and gave a full report and then some.
Of course, if I attack it will have a good reason attached.

PS. Let's just leave it at this and send emmisaries to each other.

No cause I am sick of getting **** from you and Erik over the fact that I am using a Warhammer race.

Oh, so in addition to confusing "spirit of the game" with "intellectual property violation", you have the audacity to tell me what is in character for my race?
If anything, I should be telling you how your race acts because I can read about it on the stupid Warhammer page. First of all, you should stop colonizing in case you hinder the development of what might become a sentient life form. Isn't that clearly the "greater good" you strive for?

Erik Mesoy said:
No cause I am sick of having such a total **** in the game who plays a Warhammer race and doesn't realize that not only is it not creative, it's breaking the law
Sheep2 said:

If you don't want "****", as you so euphemistically put it, then don't commit intellectual property violations from well known games!
It's really that simple. Don't commit stupid crimes, and other people won't automatically think you both stupid and uncreative.

(I have this in D&D too, a layer might be good at roleplaying but he still has to fit in with the rest of the party to some measure.)

I really am sick of this. And I'm the one running the Galactipedia, in my own time. Want to see who the rest of the players favor?

Global Nexus, can you come here and update this?
