While making the Photo Collage I checked everyone's profile (for registration date and post count) and also noted their member number (which you can trace from the URL). Then I came up to an idea.

I made a chart with the date on the X-axis and the member number on the Y-axis and plotted every recorded member on this. As a result you can see how many people have registrated in total at a certain time. :D Pretty cool, huh?

Quite interesting. When civ3 came out the big boom happened, there is also a smaller boom when PTW came, makes sense actually.

So then following that pattern we should have a small spike on tuesday. And maybe a small spike in May-June of this year.

I joined between the two booms, I guess. July/August 2002 for me.

BTW, for all the naysayers about how the site is dying - the site is still attracting members at a steady pace, and with Conquests it should have a similar boom to the PTW one. Then it will probably stay steady until Civ4. :)

I joined seeminly with the Civ3 boom.

joined before the UBB boards back on strategy-gaming.

Yeah, i was about the same time. Look for Civ2 stuff :D

That's funny because I'm member #36 (I checked out CFC regularly before the UBB boards were there, but wasn't aware there was a forum already.), but I went to CFC to stay up to date with news about Civ3. :D

Still loved Civ2 then though, otherwise I wouldn't have become GOTM admin.

Got any idea how many members that forum had?

Hmmm, the strategy-gaming forum didn't have many, i believe there was really only like 5 members who posted regularly. Not many people at all, then TF revamped the site and added the UBB boards.

I was here just after the big boom - looking for easy to spot resource graphics after missing coal for several games in a row.

That's ingenious, matrix. :)

Now you need to do the same thing for total number of posts over time. ;)

ithink it would be 10,000 for 1 year..

Yeah, there's just too many 0's. :) I'll try to make one in Corel Quattro Pro and save it as an Excel file.

BTW, there's 1.2 million posts.

Every 100,000 would have 12 plots on the graph.
Every 10,000 would have 120 plots on the graph.
Every 1,000 would have 1,200 plots on the graph.
Every 100 would have 12,000 plots on the graph (yeah right! :p)

For the true masochist:
Every 10 - 120,000 plots.
Every 1 - 1.2 million.

I'm gonna do a quick version first (12 plots).
