Additional Story
Emperor Joseph IV signed the Treaty of St. Petersburg (I named this treaty - this treaty is the one with Rossiya) and the Treaty of London. Both treaties were quite humiliating and there were strong voices of opposition, calling the treaties unfair and declaring that they were designed to cripple Poland forever. However, Joseph reassured them that while for now, Poland's power would be only a shadow of its former glory, it would not be forever - eventually, strength will be restored and the Imperium will once again be respected by the other nations of Europe. Now, however, Poland was a defensive ally of FNA and Rossiya, but more importantly, it was still a part of the Grand Eastern European Alliance (Greece, Yalta, Finland, Poland), even after its members were almost ripped apart and destroyed.
Reconstruction would be long, hard, and difficult. Religious freedom was restored, although there were more people converting to Christianity - even w/o the army to force conversions.
Poland had been badly wounded, but the worst injury came from Germany. Although Poland recognized its restored sovereignty and an alliance was forming with the new Germany, the Germans accused the Polish Imperium of constantly mistreating them. On the contrary - when the first German Republic surrendered, it ordered the people to burn their farms and crops and buildings. Then, the Polish relief came and fed and reconstructed the German areas. Instead of being grateful, the Germans spat at Poland. True the forced conversions had gone too far, but the Imperium did cease the forced-conversions and allowed religious tolerance again. And even then, the Germans revolted. The Polish Emperor was deeply hurt by the inability of the new German nation to be grateful for the GOOD things Poland did or tried to do.
Meanwhile, thousands of ethinc Poles fled the territories that were ceded to the other countries and the new state of Germany - territories that many called "Extended Poland". They feared that they would fall victim to anti-Polish sentiment and attacks, especially in the area ceded to create Germany, where anti-Polish sentiment seemed to be the highest, despite earlier happiness of being part of Poland. As they were leaving Extended Poland, the Polish nobles that ruled those areas tried to reassure the ethnic Poles that no harm would come to them. Their efforts were in vain. Even before the nobles left for what was left of the partitioned Imperium, huge crowds of Poles were streaming down to the remains of their country. Many were saddened to leave their homes, but they decided that they would be safer and much better off in Poland than in Extended Poland.
This terrible time would put Poland's survival skills to the test for the very first time. The Emperor was sure that his country would make it.
Diplo
From Poland
To Germany:
Why did you even ask for an alliance if you would withdraw your offer? Also, after your original Republic surrendered and ordered the farms, crops, etc. burned down, who sent relief to reconstruct and restore the infrastructure of the German lands? We did. We sent food and laborers to feed your starving people and rebuild the buildings, and we sent Jagiellonian Guards to oversee the reconstruction and make sure that the relief convoys were not attacked by renegades en route to the German lands. Do not give us mistreatment excuses because not very long ago, an Emperor actually made ethnic equality in the Imperium an OFFICIAL LAW. Quite a few nobles that did not want to follow this new law were arrested, so that kinder, fairer nobles could be chosen to rule the provinces. This was done to STOP any ethnic repression and/or mistreatment that may have existed within the Imperium. So we are deeply offended and deeply hurt by your accusation. But what has been said has been said - too late now. You do not want an alliance with us, so we are assuming that you would also reject our offer of [eventual] trade. Still, we hope that you still sign NAP.
But you earlier said that the only area you would take from Poland would be Berlin and the lands surrounding it. We also decided to give you all territory that is directly south of Berlin (basically the westernmost strip of land of what's left of Poland). Do not demand more land from us because we will not give up any more.
To Yalta, Greece, and Finland:
We hope that our Grand Eastern European Alliance still stands?
ORDERS
Give the St. Petersburg, the northern part of Lapland (the Polish part of the RL territory of Finland), and a thin strip of land (alongside the pre-war Polish-Finnish border) to connect the 2 areas to Rossiya (peace treaty term).
Give a Black Sea port city just east of the Crimea to Rossiya, and a strip of land alongside the pre-war Polish-Golden Horde border to connect Rossiya-Proper to the city. (peace treaty term)
Give one navy level to Rossiya. (peace treaty term)
Give 250 troops to Rossiya (peace treaty term)
Give the Suzdal territory that FNA occupied to FNA, who will then transfer the power over to Rossiya (peace treaty term)
Give one economy level to FNA (peace treaty term)
Give one navy level to FNA (peace treaty term)
Give the land that Netherlands and France occupied to Netherlands and France, respectively (peace treaty w/ both nations)
Make the city of Berlin, the area around it, and the strip of land directly south and southwest of it to the new state of Germany, but NO MORE THAN THAT! ALSO, NO TROOPS ARE TO BE DEDUCTED FROM MY OWN MILITARY TO FACILITATE THE NEW GERMAN ARMY - THEY WANT THEIR OWN COUNTRY, THEN THEY'RE GONNA GET THEIR OWN TROOPS.
Rebuild roads and stuff to increase economy.
Also, I no longer have a direct-land trade route with Finland, so now its gonna have to be via the Baltic Sea

.
OOOH! I almost forgot. ALL HOSTILITIES ARE TO END (ON ALL FRONTS/NEW BORDERS - PRETTY OBVIOUS, BUT JUST IN CASE...)
