Stealth Missile Boat

It is a stealthy missile ship, I think it would be extremely valuable, not to mention it could carry a number of cruise missiles, or tatical nukes...

Let me know, I really want this unit...

I think it would be a great unit... Think about it, a ship with invisiblity carrying 15 or so nukes around your coast... Long range bombardment ... AWESOME

Here is the first picture, you can see some of the missile silo's on the ship. Not to mention it is BUEATIFUL looking ship!!!

Just a little bit about the boat;

Armament: 500-cell Vertical Launch System (VLS)
Tomahawk Land-Attack Missiles (TLAMs)
Army Tactical Missile System

Crew: ~~ 50; designed to be highly automated

Design: Low radar signature ("stealthy")
double hull
length 500-800 feet

Cost: $500-800 Million each
missiles will cost ~~$500 million

This ship will have ~~ 500 silos.

A few reasons the U.S. navy wants and is building this ship... It is cheaper to maintain and has a smaller crew. Because of this, the ship will rarely be forces to come back to the U.S., instead it will be foward deployed. Crews of aprox. 50 will be rotated on and off in forward deployed areas. The cost of this ship and its capabilities will slowly render carriers obsolete. This ship provides the same functions as a carrier, however with less price, man power, and size.

Many navy experts say that what was once done with 4-5 ships and 2-3 B-52's can now be done with one ship, this ship.

How many is produced?

Right now 6 are being produced. One has already been produced, completed a year ago. I don't know when the other 5 or 6 will be produced and tested. By 2010, from what I read, the ship will start going into main service, if everything goes right.

are you sure that one has been produced? seems do be a fictional ship to me, 500 silos? thats a bit of overkill there. and replace aircraft carriers? doughtfull, aircraft carriers are used to place air suppierority anywhere in the world, unless that ship has a compliament of aircraft it will not replace aircraft carriers. And are there any actual photos of this ship? if one has actually been made you think there would be a few pictures of it floating around somewhere.

Yea, actually three were produced by three different companies in test phase. I think these three were just smaller scales. From there they produced one. I believe those three pictures I posted were replicas of the ideas/ones that were produced. Or perhaps guidelines to them.

Yea I got 500 silos, I was thinking HOLY ****!!! But what I meant by replacing aircraft carries and so on was this, that when we bombed Afganstan we used sumbarines, B-52, carriers, battleships... Now we have all of that rolled into one. No longer are we forced to use carriers for a role that isn't their primary function (air supieroirty) we can use the missile boat for this.

I've been searching the website for some actual photoes, all I can find is the three replicas from the three different companies. That is when I got a new story stateing 1 was produced in 2001, and by 2010 they would start being produced.

The only problem I see with this unit is the ai using it to launch missiles at you from your own coast.

article says 500 launch tubes, not silos. Slight difference. Still cool concept. Not sure if the AI would use such a ship as it would be an artillery battery at sea and we all know how well the AI uses artillery. Would be great for MP though

I think they would use it the same as nuclear subs... Yea that is a slight difference, I miss spoke... tubes/silos! Someone has to create this unit and give it a good bombardment and the ability to carry like 10 nukes, cruise missiles...
