Chieftain
I have thousands of hours in on Civ5, and got started on Civ3 a long time ago. It seemed that the Steam utility was the way to go and I have used it and though it was wonderful until I added Gods & Kings. I even like the names: Valve and Steam! There were a number of annoying bugs in G&K [being able to target gifts to a specific city-state resource really appealed to the economist in me, but it makes only a noise and no funds are transferred] but with decades in the tech world, I use workarounds and wait for the next rev... But within a few days I could not even get into Civ5 or Civ5 G&K. It gets through the first "while loading" movie and most of the way through the second and boom it is gone. Same situation every time I tried. Is it a Steam issue or a Civ5 issue??
So, with no fix for my addiction, I used Steam to get the latest version of another game I used to play: Tropico 4. [the title leaves of the rest of the title: Dumb and Dummer]. But there were some annoying screen issues that I assumed were my not reading directions. So I want back to Steam to buy the directions. Steam took my money and said I had the documentation, but when I went to download it, the Steam download page would not load. After several days of trying to download it, I gave us and attempted to get my money back. Joke. Joke on me.
I'm going back to a CD for my next software. It is just like the Investment Community: It is good when it works but when it fails, you are screwed and they've got your money...
