stMinionNES2: Bigger, Better, Betterer

Sardis sat on the beach, sipping fresh fruit juice. "The Lydian beaches are so beautiful, I should do this more often". King Sardis was tired after 6 months of traveling to Cyprus and Athenea. He had paves alliances, and trade agreements along the way though and deserved a break.

So he sat, thinking deeply and sipping his juice.

Yamato sat on a bench next to a small koi pond in the imperial flower garden. He was silent, reflecting on the information that had come in from the southern coast. The southern Home Islands, Kitakyushu and Shikoku, were under the control of ronin. The Shogun knew well that ronin were not meant to rule. They were barbarians, warriors without any allegiance, looking out only for themselves. They were fanatical killers on the battlefield, and did not follow the rules of war that were commonly accepted throughout the islands. Yamato realized that he was obligated by his honor to liberate the people of the southern Home Islands from this tyranny. He would destroy the ronin regimes and bring their oppressed citizens into the bright light of Japanese civilization.

But, as seemed to be the case so often, Yamato had more than one front to deal with. His mind wandered to his new lands in the north. The roads had done a great deal to help incorporate these lands; they had brought Japanese citizens their to settle and mix with the native population, they had allowed lucrative trade, and the exchange of ideas and cultures. But more was needed. "My surveyors report that their are many fine locations for cities in the north," Yamato thought. "Edo Bay is rich with the fruits of the sea, and has many good harbors. The land along its coast is fertile and will support my people well. It is here I will build two great cities to fully Japanize the Tokugawas." And so Yamato ordered the building of two cities on Edo Bay. The ancient Tokugawa port city of Edo was to be renamed Tokyo and modernized with all the trappings of Japanese cities. Just south of Tokyo the city of Yokohama would be built in the shadow of Mt. Fuji along the coast of Edo Bay. This would project Japanese authority and culture northward.

Finally, it became clear that the army was too small. If Japan was to fight and defeat the ronin on Kitakyushu and Shikoku, as well as pacify the rest of Honshu, Yamato knew he would need a larger force.

Orders:
-Grow army by 1,000.
-Build Tokyo and Yokohama in the Tokugawa territory. They are to have all the improvements and infrastructure of Kyoto, Kobe, and Hiroshima.
-Garrison Kyoto with 300 men. Garrison Kobe and Hiroshima with 200 men each. Garrison the rest of my territory on Honshu with 1,200 men (including the troops drafted this turn.)
-Invade Kitakyushu and Shikoku with 500 men each.
-Continue to build imporvements in all cities to increase culture and trade and make people happy. Continue building roads throughout my territory.

Brunei

witchdlg.jpg

Brunei was beginning to grow into a mighty state. With this transition from a tiny tribal community into what would actually be considered a country of formidable size, came a great deal of sophistication of society. A system of writing was made, that was etched into clay tablets by twigs and other such utensils found near the forests. It consisted of quick etchings and dots to represent vowels, and became very popular among a whole new class who were called "scribes".

These etchings first talked of simple things. Bartering and trade of fish and grain and such between the various mercantile men. Eventually however they began to write down ancient myths of Brunei, that would remain precious knowledge for centuries. Most mysterious was the tale of the Shamans.

The Shamans lived in secret. Nobody knew where they came from, but it was generally accepted that they from the mountains. Higher than the other mortals, they had a special contact with the spirits of the world. When other beings of clay tried to rise up to the mountains to hear the spirits, they never returned. But the Shamans would live there for years without coming down. And when they did it would be to bless the Great Chiefatin of Brunei upon the birth of a male child.

As Brunei grew, the old shamans began to travel throughout the land, to visit various villages in distant corners of the empire. They were greeted with great joy, as they were thought to bring luck to whatever village they came upon. When a shaman did come to the village, a great celebration was held, with a giant feast and much dancing. When the Shaman left, the elders would weep, and in his honor they would rename their villages. The shaman would smile and leave some proof of their existance in the center of the village, before returning to their homes in the distant mountains.

One particularly magnificent Shaman was Sibu. A village was suffering from drought when a nearby stream had mysteriously dried up. Sibu came down from the mountains with his great staff. He muttered some words and phrases, and told that the stream would flow again. But the people watched and didn't see water, and screamed, "Liar! You are a fraud! We should never have trusted you!". Sibu smiled and sais; "You may kill me, but I live only to help our people. We are all the childrens of the gods and our actions live in eternity, whether we die peacefully or by a blade". But the people didn't listen and they killed Sibu and left his body by the stream. But a day later, two young boys noticed that water had once again begun dripping into the stream. Within two days, the stream had been replaced by a great river, larger than the tiny old stream ever was. The people grieved, and went back to the place where they left Sibu to bring him back to the village and bury him in the center. But when they came, Sibu's body wasn't there.

Nobody knew what had happened to it. A division soon sprung up. Some said that Sibu had been swallowed by the raging river as a proper burial from the gods. Others said Sibu's spirit rose up into the sky to live with his masters. In the end all agreed to build a holy temple to commemorate the spot. Around this temple they built a city, and they named it Sibu in the honor of the Shaman.

- Increase economy
- Keep establishing outposts along edges of our continent
- Build city of Sibu in Southeastern Brunei
- Keep expanding around coast.

The Aborigine people were confused. They had to elect a chief. But who was better for election? Nurunderi II wanted to completely eliminate all barbarians. Inadur wanted to peacefully join Aboriginia Australis with the barbarian kingdoms into one "mega kingdom". As the Aborigines were not ready for a war, most people, especially younger people who could join the army and people descended from the barbarians, voted for Inadur. Inadur won the election and was set to become Chief in a month. The day before Inadur officialy became chief, Nurunderi II passed the Approval Law, limiting a chief's power.

THE APPROVAL LAW
1. All city mayors are now part of a group hereby formed called the "Approval Assembly"

2. Any law passed by the chief can be declared null by a majority vote of the approval assembly.

3. City mayors must be elected by the people of their cities.

Inadur declared the Approval Law void after becoming chief, because, he said, Nurunderi II had no power to pass laws. Inadur's first law was the Expansion Act.

EXPANSION ACT
1. Farmers may now receive loans of up to 20 gold pieces from the government when starting a farm.

2. The government may send workers to any newly discovered mines.

3. If the barbarian tribes to the west agree to join Aborigine Australis, the kingdom will be seperated into four provinces, each with a governor, elected by the people, to manage the budgets and other small details of their province.

Orders:
Increase economy by following expansion act

To Barbarians:
From Inadur of Aboriginia Australis:

Would you like to join our kingdom? All four of of tribes, instead of weak and divided, can be united into the Chiefdom of Australia!

SRIVIJAYA

Fire twisted and writhed around the serenity of the palm grove; a crack of flame sent sparks raining from a trunk and onto the brush of a hundred thousand dry seasons past. The majapahit, in an attempt to burn us into starvation had begun the wholesale murder of the Children of Teten. With flame and malice, they sealed their fate, the bowl of Teten's wrath would rain down upon their king and his vile underlings, for they who would wantonly destroy the convenant between Teten and man.

And it was on the gates of Trowulan that the spirit of Wuruk's troops was crushed. The forests had swallowed up an entire division under a prince of Majapahit, a blood sacrifice taken by Teten as repiration, hardly quenched was his thirst, and the forests let out a mighty roar. The wrath of the gods had been awoken.

Orders:
•Build roads throughout Sumatra in order to grow economy.
•Continue to press on into Java, bring the Majapahit to its knees, and make it suffer for its crimes against Teten.
•Colonize the Isle of Belitung, continue to absorb outlying principalities on Sumatra.

The Khmer Empire was booming, the borders had nearly doubled and the army was as powerful as ever. The great temple had finished, and the king as well as the people were happy. However, Angkor was overcrowded, and the fishing industry that was supposed to bring great revenue to the people was still fairly week. However, the king could kill two birds with one stone. He ordered settlers to the Thai Gulf, were he decreed that a new city would be built, and this city would be called Krung Thep. Meanwhile, the armies of the Khmer were on the move.
