SRIVIJAYA

King Ramkhamhaeng saw across the Straight of Sunda, to Java. There he saw the vassal state of Serang and just beyond the borders of Serang lie Majapahit. The weak kingdom was ripe for the picking and King Ramkhamhaeng intended to do just that; pick it, to the extreme!

Brunei

Rukang treaded along the roads his ancestors had built through the jungle. The small community of Brunei was growing rapidly. His warriors mask was decorated with symbols of what he had achieved in his lifetime, and besides this he also had a spear and bronze shield to show for it. They were marching to exterminate the last of the barbarian tribes from their island and bring it under the rule of the Brunei state. With the help of the gods they would succeed. Suddenly the group of several thousand came to a clearing on the edge of a cliff. Below them they saw the barbarian village, surrounded by a loosely built palisade and manned by about a hundred defenders. The animals were gathered into the middle of the settlement, while the women and children had gone into the underground regions. Their warriors themselves looked scared and nerveous... good... they were about to see what would come to those who dared challenge Brunei.

UPDATE STARTED

Update 5 - 3500 B.C.

A population boost in the middle east results in the finding of many new cities. Lagash in Sumer, Nineveh in Assyria, Alaca Huyuk in Hittatia, Jericho in Israel, and Sippar in Babylonia.

In the lands of the Mauryna Empire, the people begin to irrigate the great Ganges River. This yields such great success that their population rapidly increases and they decide to build a great project; the Great Ganges Granary. To the Northeast, mountain explorers find the great nation of Tibet.

The states of Zanzibar and the Songhay have both fallen, to the armies of Kilwa Kisiwani and the Mali respectively.

The Mongols unite behind a great leader; Temujin. Under his leadership, they expand Northeast and unite some of the surrounding Mongolian tribes. Their culture slowly begins to appear as a series of ballads are composed about Temujin's exploits. However there are bad news as well. Some surrounding tribes are worried about Temujin's sudden rise to power, and begin to hassle Mongolian expeditions. Also, some Mongolian settlers find certian areas too cold to travel to.

The Babylonians continue to prosper, building their roads and wonders and such and becoming one of the most powerful civilizations in the middle east. Though a recent diplomatic envoy to Israel hasn't been answered yet, the Israeli religion of Judaism has appeared in the lands of Babylon. It's not very popular though, only present in the western half of Babylon itself.

In Japan, the Tokugawa Shogunate agreed to join the Japanese nation as a semi-autonomous province. The people celebrated this, many moving to the newly annexed territories by taking advantage of the newly built roads. Japanese cities are not rivaled anywhere else in the world. To the Southwest, the lands are ruled by nothing but Ronin.

In Northeast Europe, a royal marriage occures between Olga of Lithuania and the king of Poland. The couple happily live the remainder of their lives in Gdansk, setting up a Polish claim on the Lithuanian throne, second only to the Lithuanian royal family. Polish armies quickly set up a border with their new kin, which is greeted happily by all Lithuanians except for a nerveous royal family.

By some divine coincidence, the warlike Huns start moving Westward from the Steppes at this exact time. The Huns move very fast using a method called migration, where the entire nation leaves towards a new area. They arrive first at the outskirts of the land of the Kievan rus, whose leaders greet them cauitously.

War in Egypt!? Possibly. An envoy from upper Egypt is sent to Lower Egypt asking about a possible union of the two nations. The people of both countries are more than ready to accept this, but the nobility are not. Upper and Lower Egyptian nobility agree to a union, but large arguments start over which side shall rule the country. In the end, Lower Egypt quits negotiations and begins to fortify it's border. The Upper Egyptian populace is upset with this, but are preoccupied with a miracolous new invention called the wheel.

The Lydians continue the use of their patented expansion routes, however this leads to problems. The center that had been charging into Anatolia grows more and more seperated from the rest of the Lydian homeland, and as a result is devoid of many supplies. Barbarians use this weakness to their advantage by trying to cut the army off from the capital itself.

The Thracians continue to expand on two continents. In Europe they meet an assortment of barbarian tribes while in Asia they meet the Hittites. Life is relatively peaceful in the Thracian kingdom where no wars are being fought. A recent traveling historian claims that the Thracians are the second tallest people in the world.

The Athenians stop expanding Northward, much to the surprise of their neighbors. Instead they focus on the surrounding islands, quickl annexing most of them, while they merely fortify their Northern border. Many are puzzled but none complain.

The Germans cotninue to increase their army and establish borders with their neighbors. A firm border of Denmark is clearly marked, while one with Poland and Frankreich is under construction. Many lands are also gained in the Southwest where the people also speak a Germanic tongue.

Just South of the land where Europe and Africa meet, another group of Berbers emerges. The berber kingdoms of Mauretania and Numidia had already existed, but far away and with radically different systems of goverment. These Berbers are a tough nomadic peoples with no capital, similar to the Huns of Eastern Europe.

In the Southern lands, Australia, the aborigenee people of the region unite behind a great ruler. They grow and expand towards the east, learning how to forge a metal called Bronze to their advantage. The coast that the leaders talked about however, is very far away, and several hostile tribes lay between them and the sea.

In Southeast Asia, the Khmer people complete a wonder that sends their culture skyrocketing. So many barbarians fall to their knees in awe of the sophisticated Khmer culture that the Khmer state nearly doubles. The city of Angkor however begins to become increasingly overcrowded. Many beg for new cities to be established.

Roman armies continue to march against the Lombards. They easily capture the old Lombard capital of Milan, but face much tougher resistance in former Etruscan land. Since the bulk of the Lombard forces are still there, the Romans are not able to reach the capital yet. A border with the nation of Celtica is also established.

In the land of Ireland, the remaining clans are subjugated by the nation of érie, which has it's capital at Tara. The day goes on to be remembered in history as the first union of Ireland, and there is much celebration ammong the common folk. In the higher regions of society, Irish nobles welcome diplomats from other countries in their archiplego, which has recently been united by 5 kingdoms (Ireland being one of them).

In the holy land, Abraham and the Israelites expand towards their trading partners the Phoenicians. Their expeditionary forces are greeted happily by the Phoenician villagers once the two countries make contact.

In Brunei, the Bruneiese defeat the last of the barbarian tribes on the outskirts of their kingdom. They go on to greatly expand in that direction, and establish outposts even farther.

Srivijaya invades the Majapahit! The Srivijayan fleet of 10 galleys is boared to over-capacity and sent to their colony on Java. Unprepared for this, the Majapahatans take a heavy blow in their Western regions. The Srivijayans burn and loot everything in sight, annhialating the Majapahit kingdom as they go.

You are testing our patience, friend. We have agreed upon Crete, and yet you avoid retreating from it. We ask you one last time, please withdraw from Crete and honor our partnership.

My orders for my first turn was not did....

The Mauryan Messager had arrived in Lhasa. He had traveled the Himalaya under dangerous conditions and now he was more then just happy to see a city. He had rested in the small mountain farms of several Tibetans and he hadn´t seen anything bigger then 10 houses for several weeks. Without the help of the Tibetans he would never have made it so far. The friendly Tibetans had always helped him and the messager had realized that they were very nice people. But now he had to bring his message to the Chieftain.

To: Tibet
Greetings Chief Sonam Gyatso. I am King Chandragupta of the Mauryan Empire. We have to talk with you about two important matters.

1. We want to set up a trade-route with you. Do you agree?
2. Lets set the borders of our empires now. We don´t want you to expand south of the Himalaya mountains. You are mountain people. Settle the mountains and let us settle the Jungles and plains. If you agree we want to sign a NAP as a act of friendship. If you don´t agree...

Orders:
-grow economy
-attack the eastern barbarians with 2000 men
-attack the eastern barbarians with 2000 men
-defend the borders with 400 men
-peacefully expand west
-set a trade-route with Tibet

Upper Egypt to Lower Egypt: Why do you fortify your borders we mean you no harm. We still wish for unification and believe it can still e acheived as it is in the best interest of both our peoples. The nobles have no reason to quabble as they would lose nothing. If anything they would gain more lands if us two were to unify. To help matters out, our citizens and nobles have admired you despomatic government and would not mind at all if they were to live under that govrnment as it would make for both a strong military and economy. Nomarch Mery would also allow the Pharoh to be the outright leader as long as he was secondin command and the leading military / economic advisor. As well as the top general. Also do not forget that you would also be able to benifit from our Karnak temples. We hope you consider our proposition carefully and send us a response soon.

OOC: Orders later

The German's had, as their leader had predicted, become extremely warlike. The men were always preparing for war. They knew that the success of their community they needed more land. The main way to get this land was to take it from other people or bring its people into their community. They had been doing this in the southern German lands. They would create a huge empire through warefare and that was all there was too it. They had begun thinking about naval warefare as well...but this would be years and years before they built any major ships.
The wonder that was the German Acadamy was in production. It would train many men for war and would be the most extreme example of militerism in the known world.

As the people of Germany were constantly wishing for expanshion they decided they needed to try out their new military. They were greatly offended at one of their neighbors. The Bohemians had hurt their feelings very harshly. THey had denied an offer of an alliance. They would be punished, and they had good land anyway. The huge German military machine was moving. The incredible army would move into bohemian territory and besige the capital so near the German border and take it. Then they would move through the rest of the Bohemian lands, completly taking control of it.

Orders:
-Expand the army by 2000 men again
-begin Great German military Academy (+3 Army)
-send 7000 man German army into Bohemia and take over as much of it as possible.
-ask the Frankreich to consider my proposition

Diplo:
To Denmark and Frankreich please do not be allarmed at Bohemia's fate, they brought it on themselves.

To Frankereich: would you consider uniting with Germany, we should bring both of the Germanic nations under one government, together we will be strong. At least consider a Royal Family marriage such as the people of Poland and Lithuania were able to accomplish. It would promote cooperation and good feelings.

The expansion eastward had been successful. A border had been set up with Lithuania, and Wilno was established. 25% of Wilno's population was ethnic Lithuanian, while the rest was Polish. The Wilno Lithuanians, however, had already been practicing Slavic Polytheism, in contrast to the other Baltic-oriented Lithuanians. The people of the Lithuanian Chiefdom were very welcoming and cheered the arrival of Polish troops to set up an official border between the two countries.

Meanwhile, in Gdansk, the Great Shipyards were nearing completion. Even as Emperor Charles II was looking at the shipyards from his palace balcony, the first 11 of 30 galleys were under construction, with the rest also being begun. The city had become very popular not only among the Polish Szlachta (aristocracy/nobility) but also among the Lithuanian nobles, who visit regularly every year. Not many remain residents, being nostalgic for their homeland - even though many Lithuanians already feel close to Poland and consider Poland their second home.

Unfortunately, the army was still too small. While there was no competition whatsoever with Poland's western ally and neighbor Germany, the Germany army still outnumbered the Polish troops by 1100! And if there really were more nations other than Germany, Poland, Lithuania, and whomever Germany had come into contact with then Poland must still have been militarily outnumbered compared to them! This would be rectified soon.

In Poznan, a mysterious man, known to many as "The Seer of Poznan" claimed that he saw the future. His two best-known prophecies are:
Code:
"I looked and saw:
A great army from the Burg of Branden
Charge into the south
Across the Sudetenland

To gain vengeance upon a hostile nation
Quickly Praga fell without a chance,
As did the hostile nation
To the great swords of the Burg of Branden.

The Burg of Branden took full control
And the people of that nation accepted the foreigners' ways
And didn't care that their sovereignty was now gone,
Disappeared without a trace"

Code:
"I looked and saw:
A shadow warlord emerge with a lethal sword
Followed by an army of shadows
From an unknown place, without a home.

The army of shadows swept down toward the south
Slashing and thrashing everything in its way,
Seemingly unstoppable, invincible
Until finally they had met their final obstacle.

The shadows eliminated it
And finally settled down
And they built their home,
The throne of emu."

People say that the first prophecy refers to the upcoming German-Bohemian war, while the second may be a reference to the nomadic tribe from the east that is rumored to be at the gates of a city called Kiev. Obviously it is still unknown whether or not these prophecies are true, but if they are, then Poznan may become the center of Slavic Polytheism - which is also the faith of the Seer. If they are untrue then the people will no doubt condemn the Seer and any offspring of disturbing their lives with old wives' tales.

Diplo
From Emperor Charles II of the Polish Imperium

To Germany:
We wish you luck with your campaign against the hostiles. May the Seer of Poznan's prophecy come true.

To Lithuania:
Let's allow people to travel freely across the border to extend the feeling of mutual trust and respect.

Orders
Increase Army by 2000 troops (-2 economies).
Build road between Wilno and Warszawa.
FINISH the Great Shipyards of Gdansk (+3 Navy).
*SECRET* Keep 1000 troops throughout Poland to make sure there are no rebellions and such.
Get 2900 troops to expand north/northeast (to surround Lithuania territorially).
Get 2000 troops to expand towards the south. (these are the troops that are going to be built/hired/whatever right now w/ the 2 economies mentioned in the first line of the Orders)
When the 30 ships are built in the Great Shipyards (completing this turn), get all of them to the Lithuanian coast to prevent any ship from approaching the Lithuanian coast or departing from the Lithuanian coast. Don't shoot Lithuanian ships, just prevent them from leaving. If they ask why, say it's simply for their protection from "rogue pirate ships that are rumored to be treading the Baltic waters".
Send some people across the Lithuanian border (if they don't agree to open the borders for free travel, then SNEAK in) and incite either the people of Kaunas or the army units in Kaunas to start an armed uprising and/or kill the Lithuanian royals. Get a Polish person from Wilno to do it, as the Wilno Poles are somewhat similar in looks and accent to the Lithuanian Lithuanians.*SECRET*

Mongolia
Mongolia grew and grew.
Other tribes around Temujin were afraid he will come to them soon. They were right he would come.
Troops begun moving eastward with huge amounts. They found an animal they called Horse. And than they begun to try and learn to ride it. If they will succed the Speed of Temujin's Horde will be more than 4 times the regular men.

The forces continued to rush into other Mongolian tribes in the east, south and north and several other tribes even joined "peacfully" just from the frightening Mongolian horde, They soon became Mongols and joined the army.

Orders
Grow army.
Start wonder: "Economic tent"- In this tent economic plans for the Mongolian fighting hordes are being planned. It will work like a Trade route OR Grow economy by 4.

ATHENS

The wind swept through the small canyon inwhich Pericles was residing. And small it was. Only a hundred feet seperated two giant walls of stone that jutted upwards, at almost a ninety degree angle. A small cottage nearly blocked the path in the middle. A small stream twisted it way around the blocks that stood in its path, testing millions of years of erosion and evolution. Pericles was upon the porch of the great cottage, smoking his pipe, happy to finally be on vacation from his hard job as emperor of Athens.

Hearing a large bang in the house, and knowing that it was the clumsy soldier who had to escort and stay with him here, Pericles was reminded that it was only a temporary, half-vacation. Returning back to the room of the cottage, he noticed some broken pottery and the guard was sweeping it up with a broom - the newest and hottest invention in Athens. Shaking his head and sighing, he continued to the bed and quickly fell asleep, a peaceful sleep.

That night the emperor was woke up by a disturbance outside that he heard. It was a small canyon, and so any noise was amplified to a great degree. Grabbing his mace from the bedside, he crept outside and onto the porch. Taking a few quick glances around, he began to turn back in, relieved and smiling to himself for being such a nervous wreck. Turning around, a faint glare from the moon revealed a tall dark figure in front of him, which promptly stuck a spear through the emperor's chest, not allowing him to scream. Glancing at the guard who still lie in sleep, the dark figure exited the room quietly. The Emperor of Athens was dead.

Back in the city, the guard made his way, Pericles in his arms, to the royal palace where the prince, Philip, resided. Learning of his father's death, the prince was prompty throned as Emperor, and was quite delightful. He had not one word of sympathy for his dead father.

A Jewish prophet by the name of Elijah was sent by God to Babylon. He went into the streets and cried out in a large voice, "GOD FROWNS UPON BABYLON AND IT'S FALSE GODS! DOOM WILL SOON STRIKE IF YOU DON'T REPENT NOW!" The Prophet was taken by guards to the King of Babylon, Hammurabi himself. "Leave us alone." Hammurabi said to the guards. They left. The King listened to Elijah's plea. He announced to the people the following morning, that all those who wish to remain with Ishtar may, but they will soon die. The small Jewish denomination founded its own temple in Babylon. The Babylonian Synagouge of the True God. Hammurabi frequently visited the Synagouge and prayed to his God. The Jewish God. The True God.

Just reminding you...
We respect your religion. In fact, Hammurabi has just converted to Judaism. We desire an alliance, and perhaps a trade route.
