The Konjan Khanate
100 years after Zutan's famous decree, the Konjanese had annexed much of the surrounding area. Riding into villages and slaughtering all who offered resistance, Zutan became known as "The ferocious one", and many a nomad fell at his sabre. After days of riding, the Konjanese horsemen would travel back to Konjantum, which was by now nothing short of a city.
The old wooden fences and yurts were replaced by great walls and mudbrick homes. The streets, once mere pathways among family tents, were designated and organized numerically for easy navigation. Whereas farm animals had once freely rummaged through Konjantum, they were now all coralled into great pens right outside the city walls, where they were tended to by the city-dwellers who would come there by night.
Zutan had not only conquered much territory, but had rocketed Konjantum upwards until it was one of the most splendid cities in the world. More and more villagers began arriving through it's gates and making residence, setting up small houses in what little space remained. When space inside ran out, houses began to be constructed all around the city walls, and soon a second set of city walls was necessary. And so, Zutan died seeing nothing bad come upon his city. His son, Ugdan, however was less fortunate.
To the South was a large tribe, called the Tuva. They were barbaric and uncivilized and roamed the steppes in packs doing nothing but pillaging the people who had begun to settle down in the areas around them. Inevitebly, the Konjanese eventually made contact with the Tuva. Tensions were already high due to reports of Tuva stealing Konjanese sheep, when the Tuva inexplicebly burnt down an entire harvest. Enraged, Ugdan ordered that the Konjanese swiftly punish those who so unwisely opposed them.
