Looks fun. I think I'll join. This is my first NES, so bear with me.

The beginning of a religious empire...
In the mountainous regions of Northern Persia, a prophet named Zarathustra reveals a new god, Ahura Mazda, and a new religion to the world. The religion spreds among a few minor villages and eventually some major towns, uniting the inhabitans of the area under a common cause. The Zoroastrians seek to expand and prosper in the world... bringing knowledge, culture, and unity to its wayard inhabitants.

The Zoroastrians are ruled by a religious oligarchy, made up of the local magi (priests) in the various villages and towns. Seeking toward a more unified bond between them, the magi pool the resources of their towns together and begin building a Grand Fire Temple. The marvelous edifice and the newly-forming temple hierarchy will surely increase the culture and education of the people. This will also bring a more centralized govenment under the control of the temple hierarchy and it's pinnacle, the High Temple Priest (elected from among the local Magi).

The great empire of Turkey started out as one small city. That city's name was ISTANBULX. The Turks believed in Islam, the theory that a prophet named Muhammed would come and save the world. The Turks of IstanbulX decided to build a temple to the prophet Muhammed, but it had to be one giant cube, since they weren't allowed to make statues of religious figures.

The Konjan Khanate

mongoliahorses.jpg

100 years after Zutan's famous decree, the Konjanese had annexed much of the surrounding area. Riding into villages and slaughtering all who offered resistance, Zutan became known as "The ferocious one", and many a nomad fell at his sabre. After days of riding, the Konjanese horsemen would travel back to Konjantum, which was by now nothing short of a city.

The old wooden fences and yurts were replaced by great walls and mudbrick homes. The streets, once mere pathways among family tents, were designated and organized numerically for easy navigation. Whereas farm animals had once freely rummaged through Konjantum, they were now all coralled into great pens right outside the city walls, where they were tended to by the city-dwellers who would come there by night.

Zutan had not only conquered much territory, but had rocketed Konjantum upwards until it was one of the most splendid cities in the world. More and more villagers began arriving through it's gates and making residence, setting up small houses in what little space remained. When space inside ran out, houses began to be constructed all around the city walls, and soon a second set of city walls was necessary. And so, Zutan died seeing nothing bad come upon his city. His son, Ugdan, however was less fortunate.

To the South was a large tribe, called the Tuva. They were barbaric and uncivilized and roamed the steppes in packs doing nothing but pillaging the people who had begun to settle down in the areas around them. Inevitebly, the Konjanese eventually made contact with the Tuva. Tensions were already high due to reports of Tuva stealing Konjanese sheep, when the Tuva inexplicebly burnt down an entire harvest. Enraged, Ugdan ordered that the Konjanese swiftly punish those who so unwisely opposed them.

--------------------

- Increase army by recruting Konjantum youth
- If unable to increase army, increase economy by way of extra harvest
- Attack the Tuva, a large nomadic tribe to the South
