Stormrage`s Fantasy Mod

Yeah, I was actually kinda going with mythrill-iron thing myself, but I wanted to avoid it.. I guess it can`t be helped..

Or the militia can upgrade to swordsman, and the swordsman to footman, and footman to infantry (moved to era 3 and juiced up with mytrhill or stays in era 2 and mythrill?)

Storm, In the FF mod, I replaced Aluminium with Mythril, and I created a new Resource icon and pecia pics, which I uploaded into my graphics library....

So, guys, remember that RPG idea from a while ago? You know, army units upgradeable with "magical item" units?

I did a little test - I clicked the "army" box at the spearman and gave it transport capability of 2. - didn`t work, he didn`t appear at all when I discovered Bronze working.. So then I went and gave the Military Academy require Bronze working, and 1 shield cost. I built it, but there were still no spearmen...

What did I do wrong/miss ?

@Plotinus: I didn't see your comment until now. I will post what I used.

First I understood from the instructions of the tutorial (which are quite vague at this point) that I have to recolor the grid. Later I realized I was wrong, but first I did this:

Then I figured I the black lines were not needed at all there, so I painted over them doing then this very very simple thing:

I'm still not entirely sure that this is the right way to do it, but it works absolutely perfect for me, with no glitches or problems. :D

BTW, thanks to Bjornlo and Quinzy that posted in Hikaro's thread and explained me what I needed to do.

Here we have some descriptions on 2 civs from the mod, hope you like them. These Vangoths will prolly get a new name, and the old Vangoths will keep it, cos the old Vangoths are the barbarians (not civ barbs!) I listed a few posts ago and these are some new kids on the block, just came up with them 2 hours ago. In case the description isn`t clear, they`ll have light blue, almost white skin, and prolly white hair and beards. Or no body hair at all. The weapons and armor are made of magical ice, and yes, they are alive, just really.. weird :)

Pyros

The Pyros Peninsula was once a land covered in active volcanos, gray from ash or on fire. Such enviroment was a perfect breeding ground for dragons. When the earth settled down, the volcanos went asleep, and the rich soil started bursting with life. Such was the beauty of the green peninsula that it attracted tribes from along the Fire Sea coastline.

But when the man set foot in that territory, a millenium of battle started. Year after year, century after century, brave warriors struggled against the reptiles and the land was on fire once again. Since it lasted for so long, the man`s abbility to learn ensured his victory. Chosen braves became members of the holy Dragonslayer order, founded by king Pyram VII, and from that day every dragon attack on human settlements was repelled. Finaly dragons retreated in the high volcano peaks, and tried to avoid contact with the humans.

Today Pyros is a strong kingdom, where the few surviving dragons are under the control of powerfull Fire Mages, and serve to bring terror into hearts of foes.

Vangoth

They say that in the far north the blizzards are alive. They terrorise the countryside and devour every living thing in its path. But the northmen know that this is only a legend. For it is that which comes with the blizzard that brings the real terror, tho it is arguable if its alive. "White light shines in the dead eyes of the Vangoth",they say."Frozen, blue skin shatters like ice when struck, only to reveal frozen flesh. They are the offspring of Mother Winter, they`ll freeze the blood in your veins...".

Phillip of Adria wrote about them:
"North of the Norweda kingdoms, lives their lost kin. Vangoth people live in small warbands, raiding and pillaging, appearing and dissapearing like ghosts in the blizzards. These ruthless warriors are human no more, for the everlasting snow of the Great White shall take all life it touches. Nothing can survive that cold. They are there, but they cannot be alive. But they cannot be dead either! What they are will remain unknown as long as the cold winds blow..."

Cool! This is great reading.. :D

Those two new civs sound great stormy

What units are you planning to use for 'em?

They sound like the Others from the Song of Ice and Fire series.....

@Hikaro, the Others served as one isnpiration. The Frost Giant LH from the Mystara mod served as another :)

@LMR! Imma need to make my own ;) The Frosty people prolly won`t get in the first beta edition, I`ll start with civs that can use placeholders. 90% of this mods units will be new, so anyone who is interested in helping in any way to create an original* fantasy mod, look for the green axeman. Not the green guy with a shoota, or the blonde guy with an axe. Its the green guy with an axe ;)

And thanks, I`m happy you liked it. Any spelling or grammar fixes are welcomed if there is a need for them :)

*Imma steal where I can, thats fantasy for ya.. (LotR, WH, WC.. ;))

Bumpetty! Here are the civs I`m developing for this mod, the blue ones don`t have names yet, and if you have suggestions for the ones I already decided on, they are welcomed too :)

Suggestions for another 3 civs are welcomed too, I just can`t think of any!

American
29.Tototlici- Mesoamerican birdmen (like angels but meso)
30.Ayastigi- Cherokee horse rider guys and "spirits"
31.Amarok- Eskimo's and Arctic Wolves and Bears etc..

Hmmm... I was thinking of some Mesoamerican influence, but it won`t be birds, thats for sure. And I consider the other 2 suggestions far to weak to be major players (as in top 31 civs in the world). Nice names tho, might use them.

I like the spirits idea, might look into that some more.

Thanks!
