Strange happenings

I beat Blackbeard, enter a city and when I exit the city I see one mr. Blackbeard sailing again. I get to beat him twice .

Then I pick a fight with a french merchant. When the fight starts a nearby pirate vessel acts as it's escort and tries to board me .

Please in more detail tell me what is going on in the 2nd complaint/

Well I attack a merchant ship. A pirate happens to be nearby and when the battle starts the pirate ship tries to defend the french merchant. They even tried to board my ship like escort ships normally do.

NO...I am given credit for having put an end to the career of the notorious Blackbeard or whoever and they don't start out again as far as I have seen in the game...

Might be another pirate who looks like Blackbeard maybe?

Seriously, some random raiders do look similar to Blackbeard. You know it is really him if it said "Blackbeard" when you look at his frigate, and you get to swing down from rope to start the duel.

I've seen a few occasions where I attacked named pirates ships and did NOT get the duel with the captain, or the "you killed" screen. Perhaps that's related?

Seriously, some random raiders do look similar to Blackbeard. You know it is really him if it said "Blackbeard" when you look at his frigate, and you get to swing down from rope to start the duel.

It's been a long time since I started this... But it definately was Blackbeard both times. On the second time he had no gold. I took his ship both times and then had two vessels with same name.

Happened to me too with Roc Brasiiano and Barthlomew Roberts in the same game. In a different game I took out Jean Lafitte relively early in the game and then ran across him again about 25 years later. He had plenty of gold on both occasions, so I am NOT complaining (heh, heh )
